To be fair, when OOTB debuted, IKAG had just started to see success and hit top 5. Carly is coming off a, what is it, 10 week number 1 and another top 10 hit? Its not fair to compare them both.
Yeah.
A better checking point for Carly is Ke$ha -- like CMM, Tik Tok had run its course by the time Animal came out. Animal had first week sales of around 150K in January.
I'm not saying we should write eulogies for Carly's career, but it's undeniably disappointing.
Congrats to Pink. Though Im not convinced 225k is that amazing considering her previous album sales. I'd say reasonable at best.
P!nk has never opened with big numbers, her albums have a lot of sales longevity though. I can easily see this album flirting with the million mark by year end though and another few hundred k in 2013. Definitely on par with all her other albums.
Kanye's team shot themselves in the foot not putting it on iTunes RIGHT at 12 midnight. Fools smh.. Maybe next compilation.
I believe Carly is either going to be a singles artist or she will be that AND have this album do at least gold by... Spring? No one knows of this Nelly album so this would be better if she just forget this era ever happened.
Kiss is a good album but when I listen to it, it's like she's had identity crisis. On Call Me Maybe, she's pretend that she's 17 in stead of 26. That situation also happens with This Kiss. In Guitar String, she's want to be Taylor Swift. and the new remix of "Curiosity" sounds like a Rihanna b-side. She's don't find her identity yet. Gaga and Katy starts slow and then, become big because of their identity/persona. Same also with Ke$ha and Bruno, they already create persona for themselves ("Party Girl" and "King of Romance"). I don't surprise with her opening sales actually
