They always have disliked them. It's nothing new.

No, it was not always the case. Janet and Madonna, for example, were critically-acclaimed.
Again, this doesn't look like anything to write home about. But yes, the "Trinity" '*****'.

Celine Dion, Mariah carey, Whitney Houston...Of course they were exceptions like Cyndi Lauper but most of the them were trashed by the critics. madonna had to wait a decade to be taken seriously by them.
Oops I didn't see the reply.

Most of them change their minds, as a matter of fact all the ones who did bash 4 have praised it since.

Well, Madonna is Madonna. Janet only has two critically acclaimed albums, ‘Control’ and ‘Rhythm Nation 1814.’

Janet and Madonna are miles better than these girls.
Beyoncé is not a part of anyone's trinity.

Velvet Rope and janet. had good to great reviews as well. But yes, those are her two most acclaimed albums.
But pop stars weren't always dislikes by critics. Looking at your thread post, it's just telling critics don't care too much for them these days. They are more into the pretentious indie-rock stuff and some hip hop.

Right…for example, Rolling Stone gave 'Blackout' only 3.5/5 stars, but later went on to call it the most influential pop album of the decade, saying that if you listened to pop radio for an hour, you'd hear an hour of people trying to top ‘Blackout.’ Critics have been reviewing Britney’s personal life when reviewing her albums since ‘Blackout.’

Thank you for proving that a moderator title does nothing to decrease one's absolute delusion.

And on Metacritic they both would range in the high 70s.

TVR would be an 83. Janet would be like a 72.

'The Velvet Rope,' yes. janet., not so much: 3/5 from AllMusic, 2/5 from LA Times, a negative review from Time, 3/5 from Slant, mixed reviews from the New York Times, etc.

As for Whitney, Mariah, and Celine, they were probably trashed or not given good reviews because middle-of-the-road music was looked down upon and was considered too safe. That's why you rarely see them on 'best of' critics lists. I don't ever see Celine on any.

Yeah, janet. would probably be her lowest ranked album. That album didn't really deserve some of the praise it did get.

I wish they did scores for older albums. Rihanna has an average career score of 69 (like, really?) only because the two mixtapes aren't there, which I don't understand, since they generated scores for almost every album released this century (every post-debut Britney album has a generated score at Metacritic.)

They were all never full album girls anyway, they have flawless singles and other album tracks, but neither of them have a FULL THROUGH solid album pre-2000.
The Bodyguard soundtrack comes close, but its only half Whitney.

Whitney's debut album had great reviews and eventually made Rolling Stone's Greatest of All-Time list. But yep, you are probably right. I just know looking at the 'all-time' lists, those people who were singing MOR are usually excluded, while people like Janet, Michael, Cyndi, Prince and Madonna are always included.

I had no idea how critics trashed Mariah and Celine until recently. But like Sats said, their albums were never really coherent from start to finish.

I'm not surprised by the ratings for MDNA. Congrats to the top three
