This isn't a Lady Gaga specific issue. Most major labels have this problem. It is an ongoing issue and why the road to make it is not a walk in the park. Not every artist with a dream of making it is going to make it, sadly
But with the way the internet is these days, getting heard is a lot easier. A lot of self-promotion can occur and people do have more resources to work with. I'm all for seeing some type of change in hopes to satisfy label giants and struggling artists!

I remember the days when you used to actually need to HAVE a record label to be heard. Now the indie groups/artist are actually able to get their material to their users. Starting with Myspace and then moving to Youtube. The digital era has helped so much in the advancement of music promotion.
If these artist are dropped and they are TRULY meant to be in business, believe me they will find a way.
