Discussion: Real Queen of Pop?

To start off, Madonna always has been and always will be the Queen of Pop. End of story.
However, as a hybrid stan of those in my signature, I feel I can argue the faults and strong points of my faves more objectively than most.
It is a fact that Britney can't dance like she used to. And one of the problems I have with many of my fellow Brit stans is that they seem unable to acknowledge this. As of the last few years, Beyonce has outdanced her at every turn. One only has to watch the 'Till The World Ends' and 'Run The World' videos/performances and compare the two to see the truth behind that statement.
And since 2004 - era by era - B has outsold Brit with each album. Again, that isn't opinion, that is fact.
Will both be legends? Undoubtedly. Could I choose between them? Honestly, no. I love both of them so much - and have for over a decade - that it's impossible to do so.
Britney is the Princess of Pop; has been since 99, and always will be. MJ is the King. Madonna is the Queen. Beyonce is Queen/King B and is referred to as such by every note-worthy media outlet.
I'm tired of standing by and saying nothing while my fellow Brit stans effectively tarnish Brit's legacy by pretending she can still do the S4U choreography to 2004 level perfection.
She can't. And that is something we all must face.

That's very much true. She would not be able to do the leg movement's and twist and sharp turns in "HEELS". She would have busted ankles for sure.

Britney Spears couldn't even accomplish the choreography of a pillow fight,
but of course she's a better dancer than Beyonce.

But really, I don't recall Beyonce taking the stage with Michael per his request....

Of course I can... but I can't help it when people come for Britney.
Just like Beyonce couldn't help landing on her neck at the Beyonce Experience for dishing out more than she could handle.

Everything Beyonce has done, Britney did it before her. The only thing Beyonce has on Britney is vocals and Grammys, which pretty much go hand it hand. Realistically, Britney and Beyonce aren't the same kinda dancer (if you can call Beyonce a dancer) but I'm sure if you bopped down to Millennium dance and asked any of the workers which artists comes in the studio learning the hardest choreography, they're point you in Britney's direction.
Britney could probably never do the single ladies choreography and look as good as Beyonce doing it, but I bet at least Britney could do it.
I'd like to see Beyonce get up and hit that Slave 4 U choreography one good time...
|
Beyoncé would eat Britney in choreography. I'm sure she could perform the HIAM or BFB choreography much better than Britney, and there is no way Britney could do Beyoncé's dance rehearsals. Need I remind you Beyonccé is known for staying in rehearsals for a good 16/17 hours in high heels and while having a bucket of Popeyes to keep her awake? I don't think Britney could take.
There is plenty of tea to address.

Britney Spears represents so many things that have to do with this generation, but musically, there is hardly anything to go by which in my opinion should be the #1 criteria when you're talking about the queen of a MUSIC genre for our generation. You guys need to stop. like, forreal.
|
We can easily address this. If Britney is the obvious choice for the throne concerning Queen of Pop then certainly as far as Pop is concerned she should represent something musically and as an artist, but what is that exactly? Her role was playing an attractive, nice body young woman who could dance for filth, but outside of that?
Quote:
Britney Spears is as much of a bubblegum pop artist today as she was 10 years ago.
|
This could also be addressed, while Britney's music is cute, it has never been any revolutionary or groundbreaking, as a matter of fact, no one gagged about her sound as an artist until Blackout and that wasn't until, her 5/6th album?
Nothing much has changed about Britney in regards to her sound. The same goes for lyrical content. She's still singing about sex, dance, partying, and then throwing a cute ballad or two at the end of her album.
Quote:
Granted, now with a more mature edge, but still. The comparison is laughable. Britney Spears didn't even take her career seriously for who knows how many years, no one even knows if she does now. She's not an ARTIST and therefore naming her "queen" of a genre is, in fact, an outrage.
|
Right, how can you be a Queen if you won't even take your role as "Princess" seriously? A leader needs to set the example, and Britney is setting all the wrong examples. She has no control over her career, and as an artist, ch, let's nawt even get into that. She shows no sign of caring for her career or taking any sort of seriousness in her craft. How can she be a Queen?
Quote:
And Britney fans... please, PLEASE don't drag 10 year old sales into this AGAIN -__-
If you're gonna name someone Queen of anything they need to at least be consistent.
|
Yes, let's stay in the present, where Femme Fatale is showing how inconsistent Britney is as an artist.

sorry, madonna is still the queen. after 25 years,
where as most female artists have strong points in one area Madonna remains unparalleled in worldwide album sales, singles, tours, cultural impact, and, longevity.

We all know Britney isn't dancing the same as she use to, we do acknowledge that. Can she do harder choreography? we don't know because she hasn't tried or we haven't seen her attempt it. So I wouldn't say she can't.

POPular music
Gaga is pop
Beyonce is pop
Brit is pop
Katy is pop
It doesn't have a SET "oh this constitutes Pop" and that "This doesn't"
It's all POPular music
