What's wrong with starting with low album sales and increasing them over your career?

MOTS went Gold with ONE hit. How is that bad? Plus, she was a new artist, and people thought she would be a one hit wonder.
AGLM has sold more than Loud so far, and sold more than GGGB without its re-release.
It basically went platinum with a #1, and a Top 10 single. Break It Off did nothing for the album. It quickly peaked and fell.
Many other artists take many months to go platinum with numerous #1's and Top 10 hits.

AOTL would help it so much, I hope radio starts picking it up more soon! And I'm still hoping for a Grammy takeover again which should give this another push. If he stalls AOTL and it still gets big it would be even better because it would keep the album relevant for longer so the Grammy's take notice, whereas most albums that are released in November are forgotten/pushed to the side for the newer releases with bigger buzzes.

Why are you jumping on FAN when this is the comment that started it all?

Why is that some of you ALWAYS have to compare your girl's succes to either Katy's and Kesha's? Could you not just be happy about her success without playing some kind of competition?

No one was owned. Music Of The Sun was released in 2005. Gold back then was absolute ****.

|
Black Fri >>>>>>
And actually, August was not a good month to release TD. Summer was already over, and album sales even hit a new low.

Really hun?
Gimme another artist who released their debut, had barely any Urban support, just mainly Pop support to back up their 1 hit off the album, and sold more than Gold.

So it's ok to sell Gold in 2005 when album sales are double, even triple, yet it's not ok to go gold in 2011? Ke$has still a new artist.

The fact is Animal has outsold MOTS in 2010 when sales were lower than 5 years ago and she had the 10th best selling album of that year, and i don't care if Rihanna only had one hit or whatever excuses you made up.

Album sales were not THAT different in 2005. It was early 2000's/late 90's.
Ke$ha went platinum on her debut album. She should have EASILY been able to go Gold with her next release, especially with a #1 lead single.

"Pon de Replay" peaked at #24 on the R&B charts. Not necessarily barely.
Anyway, Music of the Sun didn't even achieve Gold status until an entire year after its release. A Girl Like Me helped its sales.

True, the early 00s was when sales were at all time peak. Still though, 2005 over 654,000,000 albums were sold. 2010? 326,200,000, with our way down another 9% so far this year, which will be under 300,000,000 million come 2010. I would say they are significantly different.
There's no doubt Cannibal is a disappointment. But to say it should have easily gone Gold? No. "WRWWR" literally released weeks before it came out. IMO that's not enough time, for an artist like Ke$ha at least, to garner a bunch of people to go buy the EP. She's not popular enough in that aspect, but "WRWWR" will be a 3x-4x platinum single. [which personally replaces the fact the EP isn't selling that well].
It would've been much smarter for them to allow her a little break and did something over the Spring & Summer.

She'll be Gold by the end of the year, if it continues selling 10k a week, and if there's any discounts at Christmas, plus promo, it could end up finishing 5-700k.
So many albums sold at least 3 million back then. Album sales are a lot different.

Agreeed, I am dissapointed, but the time period between the single and the EP and the release was too small. And how much promotion has she done? 3 televisionized performances in 4 months?
And I think Animal should have had 6 singles, Cannibal should have never happened.

A 50% drop in the past five or six years is not that significant apparently.

FAN is always trying to make Ke$ha seem more significant than Rihanna. Why? If you feel that way then fine you dont have to dwell on it every week. Yes Animal sold more than MOTS. Nobody is denying it. Happy now?
