its based on the medieval ages of europe. Obviously there are fantasy elements to the show. But the discussion on that page that I responded on was that Friends was true to reality and that there werent black people in the neighborhood that friends takes place in. the user who i was responding to said game of thrones were whiter than friends and I was making a comment saying that since its based on medieval europe, i would expect it to be. Now scurry away

Your analogy makes no sense. Its a FANTASY. The fact that they indeed have black people in the show moots your point. To assume that POC couldn't be included in the first place, when the show has witches, mythical creatures, dragons, and ****ing zombies is stupid. SCRAM!
I hope we never get to the point where directors will have to cast one asian, one white, one black, one gay, one trans, one everything, like if the plot is based on all white/black/asian persons, then so be it. Jeez.

This is understandable. But why are people criticizing a show that that ended over a decade ago? At least get with the times. Friends first aired before some of these posters were even born.

Equal representation makes no sense. The other points you mentioned I think everyone agrees with.

Friends was also sexist, they enforced gender roles so much. Anytime Chandler or Ross did something the slighest bit "feminine" Rachel and Monica were there to chime in with "what are you a girl?"
Theres also the flashback moment where Joey shows up to Monicas apartment for lemonade and gets butt naked and shoves his penis in her face without her asking. I mean it had lots of problematic moments

did I say POC couldnt be on the show? i just made a comment saying game of thrones is based on certain era in europe so i wouldnt expect game of thrones to have a lot of diverse characters. my statement has nothing to do with the fantasy element of the show and everything to do with the period of time the show takes inspiration from. my original comment was explaining why theoretically game of thrones wouldnt have a lot of POC because of the era that inspired, not that it doesnt.
