Katy Perry a) hasnt been around long enough & b) isnt talented enough but she has a made-for-tv personality. She was great when she guest judged on Idol & UK X Factor so I wouldnt mind if she was a judge.
I'm sorry but they are stupid. the American public did not know who Simon Cowell was before he did American Idol and now he is famous in the U.S. Paula Abdul's new show Live To Dance hired a male host, who hosted Australian Idol. Those producers had no problem hiring unknown people for a U.S talent show.
They should give her a chance, the American public might like her and it's an insult because the U.K came up with The Ex-Factor and they are acting like they came up with it They need to research her and not just brush her off like she is a nobody.
I remember during the early stages of the show: Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears and Hilary Duff were in the running to be a judge because Simon wanted them.

"Bosses are convinced the show needs big US stars to compete with the star-studded line-up of American Idol."
Um... Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler? I'm sorry, but American Idol will be lucky to even get ratings over 15 million this season. It's going to tank so hard. Everyone is excited for The X-Factor. They couldn't give a **** about who is judging on it. I mean, who the hell knew Randy and Simon when American Idol debuted?

Most Americans have never even heard of The X Factor
