ddd Hemsworth's Heart of the Sea was a colossal bomb and so was The Huntsman for which he was paid like 10m - the same Pratt got for Passengers - and "Rush" flopped too, also he was attached to Ghostbusters.

Chris Hemsworth is a joke that always has supporting roles in the movies he's in, and they're usually flops(Except the Marvel Properties) or movies nobody cares about.
Chris Pratt made some good choices between 2014-15 with Lego, Guardians & Jurassic World. Hence, he's more liked and more likely to helm his OWN franchise
I mean, he was even considered as the next Indiana Jones but probably passed to avoid overexposure since he's already signed for Guardians 2 & 3 and Infinity Wars + Jurassic World 2 & 3.
Jennifer is huge but needs smaller movies for the next 2 years or so. She was way too exposed with Hunger Games, X Men, and the academy bait she did so well with.
Pratt has been playing supporting roles his whole career until Guardians. He has yet to prove he can open a movie. Jurassic doesn't count since it already had a huge fanbase.

Having read the script online, they didn't. The major conflict in the film isn't revealed. Well unless massive changes have been made, and it was scrapped.
