Breaks the opening weekend record, as well as the single day record.
Replacing the records POTC 2 set last summer.

Basically, the summer movies have officially arrived and they arrived with a bang starting off with Spider-Man 3's remarkable boxoffice debut.
Any record set by POTC: DMC set last year, were shattered by SP3 this year.

A couple of the theaters here in Denver had showings around the clock for a consecutive 72 hours. They had showings at 1 and 3 AM!
But well played Spiderman 3! This one could very well break a billion dollars worldwide.
And next week Shrek 3 is supposed to open up.
