The preview makes me wonder if "Maps" is going to sound like a song from
Overexposed. I'm excited for it, though.
Overexposed definitely had some generic songs on it, and it definitely wasn't their best album, but I don't think it deserved as much hate as it got. I don't want them to go back to the stuff they did on
Songs About Jane either, though. So far, they've done a good job moving with the times while still staying true to themselves, and the only album that has even remotely strayed from that quality is
Overexposed. I wouldn't mind if they went back to some of the stuff they did on
It Won't Be Soon Before Long and
Hands All Over, though. Those are my two favorite albums from them. I think they'll play it safe with the lead single, though. I don't think "Maps" will sound like the rest of the album, though, if it does end up sounding like a cut from
Overexposed. Regardless, I can't wait!
Excited to hear the song though!
