Interesting Cupcakke pick! Are we gonna get more of her?
This is my fave set so far! Bop after bop after bop. My mom tried to get into Clipping earlier this year for reasons I don't even know
dddd @ your mom getting into clipping. this reminds me of my dad getting into M.I.A. except that's like 1000 times weirder lmao. Is she a big fan of Hamilton?
(also... maybe you'll see more of the queen )

Hold Up Starboy This Is What You Came For
Yesss at Cool Girl Great lead single and overall BOP. So effortlessly catchy.
I wish the rest of 'Lady Wood' was as good as that single. Unfortunately, it's just not realistic.

"Where The Light Gets In" es una masterpiece

"Juicy Coochie": música p*rn*? tú si eres épico. <3
"Giving Bad People Good Ideas": Rico, igual no es su mejor canción, pero rico.
"Somebody Else": De lo mejorcito del "mainstream indie", sin ser mucho tampoco.
"Hold Up": Asco de fan, para poner hasta la peor. Next.
"Wanted 2 Say": No la había escuchado, sonido limpio e interesante.
"This Is What You Came For": Single comercial, genérico y resultón.
"Man": La había escuchado, suena muy bien.
"Mean What I Mean": No la había escuchado, suena en algo.
"Just Say": Qué rica está Tinashe, gracias por hacerme ver el video. Ah bueno y la canción, estupenda.
"Starboy": Me sorprenda verla por acá, a mí sí me gustó y bastante.
"Where The Light Gets In": La había olvidado, me gustó cuando salió y la tuve pegado dos días, pero ahí murió el encanto.
"Fool to Love": Todo lo de NAO, es bueno.
"Heads Will Roll / I Will Devour You": Buena, papucho, no la había escuchado.
"Anyware": Hace poco la escuché, buceando por rym, y si tiene cositas de mi Dios Oneohtrix, hablando de eso, este video me pone loco.
"Operator": Está en algo, recién la escucho.
"Cool Girl": No me gusta

AWESOME UPDATE - let's see...
Somebody Else is a great song by them & this is pretty much undeniable (though the rest of their album can be a bit meh!). Mess at your thinking Hold Up is on the lower end of the Lemonade spectrum, but praise it!
LOL drag Broods - but I'm enjoying Wanted 2 Say! Awesome production, though the voice is a bit eh to me. Agreed with TIWYCF (I always sing the chorus "she's looking for juice"), kinda wish I included it in my BO.
Mess at the lowkey California hate & Artangels title track too! MWIM is good, same with title track of Starboy. Fool to Love is an AWESOME pick from Nao's album.
Cool Girl will always be a jam! Understand the dislike of Lady Wood but I kinda enjoyed it. Temple is definitely better than more than half of that album (prob 3/4 AT LEAST) - I love that lotus line too!
As for the guess of two songs on the next update, I say Katy B & Kaytranada
I love how no one can deny the excellence of "Somebody Else"! And btw I love your comments too.
Here are 25 albums that I listened to and I liked it but didn't make it to my official top 50 albums list... because of many reasons really. Like for example, I haven't listened to them enough, they had some great songs but weren't consistent enough and so on.
A Tribe Called Quest - 'We Got It From Here... Thank You 4 Your Service'
I wish I had listened this album more because... well, it was released shortly after Trump won and it felt like a very... necessary thing to exist? But still though, it's one of the best rap albums of the year, with great features and great lyrics.
'elseq 1-5’ is not just one album (not in the conventional sense, at least), but five different records in one, with a big number of tracks over the 20-minute mark, and overall, it’s over four hours long. And while I loved it... I think I only listened to it as a whole probably twice. But still though, if you're into extremely weird electronic music you'll find a lot to love here.
THIS MAKES ME PROUD TO BE BRITISH THIS MAKES ME PROUD TO BE BRITISH THIS MAKES ME PROUD TO BE BRITISH THIS MAKES ME PROUD TO BE BRITISH THIS MAKES ME PROUD TO BRITISH
(nah but seriously, this album is a mess but I really like it)
This is a great album filled with industrial beats, weird melodies and glitched-out vocal samples. I don't know what is it that makes it different from other albums that fit this description, but the way he uses all of this feels unique for some reason? I don't know but I dig it and Björk too so I hope y'all do.
While this is not a perfect album, I believe Carla has a lot of potential (her sound of these tracks reminds me a lot of early Grimes and Zola Jesus), and this is a sound I look forward to see her continuing to evolve in the near future, with or without F Ingers.
clipping. - 'Splendor and Misery'
clipping. continue to explore the lines between experimental noise and hip hop on their proper second album. And it's one of their weirdest works to date, with lots of excellent tracks. I just wish there were less spirituals/gospel a capella tracks. :/
I feel like this is a step-up (even if it’s a little one) from his debut – he seems more mature, and less afraid of taking risks, whatever those may be, and in the process, making commercial Dance music a little more interesting.
The futuristic classical music thing doesn’t work every single time, but when it does, it’s fantastic. Overall, this is probably my favorite projects of his since the 'God of London’ EP from 2013, I definitely prefer this over his poorly-sung R&B experiments, to be honest.
Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith - 'EARS'
Truly feels like a mix of Juana Molina or Hundred Waters and the early synth experiments of Oneohtrix Point Never. The melodies in this are sweet, the singing is too and most of the sound design is brilliant. Wish there were more tracks like the first and the last one, but I'm cool with it anyway.
This is also Katy B's worst album, but even then it contains a lot of the good quality dance-pop that she offered on her previous two records so I'm cool with it anyway. Even though this is a bit of a mixed bag, she still knows how to deliver the fun (and the vocals!), even if there’s a darker side to it.
Kendrick Lamar - 'untitled. unmastered.'
To be honest I still don't know if this is an album, an EP, a mixtape, somewhere between the three, and also I couldn't care less. This is really really good and it's a great... companion? to the 'To Pimp a Butterfly' record.
'Long Way Home’ is not a perfect debut album but, despite being influenced by many artists, she’s built her own style and sound, and she’s talented enough as a singer, songwriter and producer to pull it off.
Leonard Cohen - 'You Want It Darker'
I love Leonard Cohen, and I truly felt sad when he died. I just wish I listened/paid attention to this a bit more, because this is a really good album.
'AIM’ is definitely M.I.A.’s worst album – but then again, when you’ve got a discography as amazing as hers, that’s not really a lot to say. I feel like this was a bit rushed, and maybe this album would do MUCH better if its tracklist was better arranged (some tracks on the deluxe are way better than some of the standard). Also this won't be her last album, I'm pretty sure about that.
Metá Metá - 'MM3'
I got into them earlier this year after trying to for like two years or something. I love Brazilian music and experimental rock so this is an excellent combination of the two (with a bit of jazz too!). One of my goals for next year is to pay more attention to stuff from Brazil.
Moderat - 'III'
Honestly if I had heard this earlier on the year it could be on the top 50 without a doubt. I heard this album literally one day before seeing them live, and it was great. Also their live shows are EXCELLENT, with tons of visuals and lots of fun. Also I met Gernot (one of the members) and he was really nice.
Negative Gemini - 'Body Work'
One of the reasons why I'm not including this on the top 50 is because this feels like it's leading up to something bigger, kinda like Grimes' 'Geidi Primes' and 'Halfaxa' were leading to 'Visions' or something like that. This is pretty much an electronic-pop album, but there's also a bit of Huerco S.-like post-house music, Washed Out-ish chillwave and Britney Spears samples.
Oathbreaker - 'Rheia'
You know, I understand why some people consider them to be the reductive version of bands like Deafheaven, but they do other things with that sound, like for example there is a bit of Chelsea Wolfe-like ethereal wave, some loud punk riffs and stuff like that which makes it a very unique listening experience.
While a little more experimentation would have been nice, I like it because it doesn’t really try too hard to be anything less than fun and danceable, and while it isn’t really “complicated” or anything like that, despite being quite short, it’s still diverse enough to keep you interested.
I would have loved it if this record was sung in Icelandic (since the band's from Iceland and their first few records were in their mother language) – but their lyrics being in English doesn’t affect their creativity, their originality, and instead of using more accessible sounds to create something that’s entirely “commercial”, they use it as a way of pushing their limits.
Skepta - 'Konnichiwa'
I always tried to get into Grime, but aside from Dizzee's 'Boy In Da Corner' I never really got much of it. Now Grime is bigger than ever, probably thanks to this album, which won the Mercury prize (!!!), and I believe it was well-deserved! Love it.
Tanya Tagaq - 'Retribution'
I've first heard from her after winning the Polaris prize in 2014, but also collaborating with Björk in 'Medúlla', but this album is a very hard one to listen to. Her throat singing combined with experimental rock, strings, industrial beats and lyrics dealing with themes like abuse, suicide and racism makes this one of the darkest, but also one of the most fascinating records of the year.
This feels like the best collaboration project both bands ever made, as well as one of the most heavy, terrifying, and punishing releases of the year. Also, there is Leonard Cohen cover and the title is a reference to Courtney Love, which makes all of this even better in my opinion.
Xenia Rubinos - 'Black Terry Cat'
I LOVED this record, but I feel like forgot about it. But it's nice to see someone discussing issues related to black Latina identity, and also making fun music in the process. As well as the mix of genres such as soul, R&B, progressive rock and art pop! Which is, like, perfect to me!
Samaris's album is kinda like a missing Bjork album to me. I like it.
TLOP makes me legit sad. I listened to it today. The few great moments are few and there's just so much mediocrity. It's like.... he takes the grittiness of his last 2 releases and just makes it sound like demos.
Charli XCX, BloodPop, Noonie Bao and MØ got together to make this bop, which in theory sounds a bit basic, but it also sounds like a combination of 'No Mythologies to Follow' with the Major Lazer-core of her new sound. And that's great!
Genre: Electropop, Big Beat, Alternative R&B
This is like the trip-hop of "Fall in Love" set to a 90's The Prodigy-esque beat. It has all the catchiness from their best singles (in fact, I'd say this is their poppiest single), except that it sounds extremely dark, violent and aggressive, something I'd never thought I'd say of a band which could be classified as "dream-pop", but here we are! Wish the rest of their album was as good as this, but whatever.
#50. Crying - 'Beyond the Fleeting Gales'
Genre: Power Pop, Progressive Pop, Indie Pop, Indie Rock, Bitpop, AOR
Label: Run for Cover || Country: U.S.A.
As a band who could be stuck into the “novelty” tag forever, Crying had a huge challenge: to evolve, or to disappear. Thankfully, they chose to evolve, and that is what they show on their proper debut album. While there are influences from 80's arena rock, chiptune, progressive rock, and 90's indie, instead of being empty nostalgia, though, there’s a lot of substance and innovation to their music here. In fact, I think that it is rare to find rock albums which focus is innovation – because despite the numerous influences I am still yet to hear something quite like this.
Highlights: “Premonitory Dream”, “Wool in the Wash”, “There Was a Door”, “Children of the Wind”, “The Curve”
You’ll like It if you like: Alvvays, Queen, Anamanaguchi, Passion Pit, Van Halen, Dream Theater, Weezer, Belle and Sebastian
While most of Triángulo’s heavily relies on distortion and noisy punk-rock guitar riffs, they’re at their best when they use this abrasiveness to create pop songs, and if you like noise-pop I’d recommend you not to miss this! (if you can get over the fact that this is in Spanish, which I hope y’all do).
Genre: Pop Rap, Contemporary R&B, Trap Rap
This is Lil Yachty’s best verse by miles, and this is D.R.A.M.’s best hook by miles too. Probably one of the best hits of the year. And I don’t even smoke weed! This is so fun without being annoying, and that music video is nice I guess!
#49. Baauer – ‘Aa’
Genre: Trap, UK Bass, Wonky, Kuduro, Jersey Club, Pop Rap
Label: LuckyMe || Country: U.S.A.
'Aa’ is, in a way, like the 'E·MO·TION’ of EDM. Like, sure, it’s nowhere near as good as that – but it’s a surprisingly great debut coming from someone that would be left considered as a “one hit wonder”. Every track on the record works perfectly with the context of another. It does take influence from a big number of different sounds, genres and acts – he still has enough personality as a produer to make up for it – and as a result, one of the best Dance albums of this year.
