She and Gwen Stefani wrote together one of the best songs of the 2000s IMO - "What You Waiting For?", and Linda also wrote many amazing tracks for other artists.
Teenage Dream is a fun album... I like it.

Being formulaic is one of my issues with her (CG has to be the worst offender in years on that point), but even on the songs that aren't necessarily that (like Hot n' Cold/Teenage Dream) I'm still not a fan because I just find myself put off by her vocal delivery. I guess Katy and I just weren't meant to be.

Did you like IKAG? I think it remains her best work. It was so simple, everything since has felt so forced to me.
I don't mind Katy's vocals on record, I think she has a pretty good voice for a popstar. Provided she knows her limitations and doesn't try for too much, see Firework. Her live vocals however leave a lot to be desired. I like singers who understand their voice, they don't necessarily have to be amazing vocalists. I adore Lily Allen, and I think she's the embodiment of that. Theoretically she's very limited, but she makes it work.

To add into the "whose album is better than whose" argument.
Animal>Femme Fetale>Teenage Dream
I'm not biased, just cuz I'm a Ke$ha stan. I'm the first to admit Cannibal sucked in comparison to these.
But Animal is hit after hit from start to finish, the best solo effort I've seen in years. And Femme Fetale is consistent all the way through. While I feel Teenage Dream lacks something. The five singles + Pecock are amazing, but the other six songs, quality wise, really go downhill.

I'm not comparing anything, those albums didn't even go gold except for B2B which TD has outsold already I just found her comment really funny, who is she to say that TD has no substance when people are actually buying it? I don't really care what she thinks about Katy but her comment was really stupid

I think I just gained a world of new-found respect for you.

Peacock is one of the worst songs ever, but I agree that Teenage Dream, besides the singles and 1 or 2 ballads is BAD!

Closet Britney stan.

Linda Perry's "What's Up" is a better than anything not just Katy, but most of today's popstars, are capable of. Especially since it's actually her song.

Really? I love it. They always play it on the radio here. Her screaming gets a little annoying, but it has bite. There's something about it that feels authentic - something that all these pop songs lack, even the best ones.

And just in case we had any doubt that she truly abhors icky icky, trashy, pop music, Linda engages in a little Adelewagoning just to counter our skepticism.
****ing perfect.

But being the bitch that she is, she does preface the bandwagoning by saying she doesn't really like her.

I really like that song but most critics hate it

On VH1's 100 Greatest One-hit Wonders, "What's Up?" ranks #94. It also ranks at #16 on Blender's list of the "50 Worst Songs Ever". Similarly, it is ranked #19 on Spinner.com's list of the "Top 20 Worst Songs Ever." Most recently, in September 2010, Matthew Wilkening of AOL Radio ranked the song at #20 on the list of the 100 Worst Songs Ever, calling it "[t]he sonic equivalent of those 'hang in there' posters with the cat on a tree limb, except much screechier."

That's true. She's not willing to admit that she totally loves anyone. She just has mild respect/appreciation for other people, but basically she sort of indifferent towards anyone except, well, Linda Perry.

Linda Perry understands the message Katy & the other chicks have been trying to spread better than anyone, including them.
