And you know, I could go do some research and mention more people, but I just don't feel like doing it, especially cause I know it won't change your point of view. So, whatever. Let's just agree on disagreeing.

I never said that America has no taste, nor do I think so. I just hate songs like those getting to the #1 spot. Like Rico said, the fact that a song is #1 on the Hot 100 and not on any other chart just sucks. It's like the balance just doesn't go well. For instance, Madonna's 4 Minutes was #1 on iTunes for 3 weeks straight, #1 in digital sales, yet it couldn't get to #1 due to low airplay at that point. As a result, the song began to drop, but eventually airplay was able to keep it in the Top 10. I just don't like how the balance is on the Hot 100.

Yep. But no one is going to understand if they're not trying to. They're going to try to prove this wrong, but in reality they just look dumb, lol.

While agreeing with your thesis (they should ignore corrupt airplay and just have a sales chart) Madonna never spent more than 1 consecutive week at #1 in digital sales. The two weeks she spent at the top were the Billboard chart weeks dated the 19th April and the 3rd May.

LOL why are you worshiping, he's agreeing with what you don't like.
He was just correcting Madonna spending 3 weeks at #1 on digital, when it was really 2. nevertheless she sold 200k a week for 3 weeks.

Man, this thread is a HOT MESS.
To those of you who have the stupidity to say that ANY music sucks... uhm, get off the pedestal you built for yourself. What you say isn't and never will be a fact. I don't see how hard it is to comprehend the fact that people have different tastes in music.
Seriously, that's what's great about music. It can be deep and serious, or stupid, fun, and simple.
Jesus, some of you people are just...

In my personal opinion, I don't mind having people like Flo Rida or Lil' Wayne at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but I know that I have other artists/songs that I would rather have at #1 because my music taste isn't dominated mostly by club anthems/ringtone rappers. I liked Low, but I would've preferred to have Apologize or Clumsy take the top spot from him during his 10 week reign because I liked those songs better. When it comes to Lollipop, I like the song too, but I would prefer to have Bye Bye or Bleeding Love at #1.
I honestly don't care anymore who's #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 because of the new system that they use to calculate the Hot 100, so it's not really fair to some artists who can't sell that many ringtones, but can get major airplay. I think that the Billboard Hot 100 is just a collective chart of what's "in" in terms of the clubs or streets, but that doesn't mean that those songs are bad, it's just that there are better songs or more deserving songs that should've reached #1. I personally don't mind the whole "let's have rappers and club anthems at #1 thing", but I think in terms of the quality of music, that they aren't too deserving of the #1 spot.
I would like to see a different system that they use to get the chart because it's so lopsided for the domination of rappers/club anthems, which is okay for those artists, but what about everyone else? I'm glad to see that downloads spikes interest in other songs like "I Kissed A Girl" by Katy Perry, so that will help her career, but I don't see how this is going to reflect the music of America, but rather the music of clubs/street anthems.
All in all, I don't mind having rappers/club anthems taking the #1 spot, but it doesn't look good when you have other deserving songs that should take the top spot, but because they can't do what club anthems do, they don't get their shot at the top sot, but rather taking the back seat to the club anthems while they get the #1 spot for weeks.

Your right but we are all stating our opinions as facts and truthfully there is nothing to do to avoid that. I'm always going to hate on pop music and I'm going to say it sucks. Everyone else has their opinion as well and it is going to look like it is being stated as a fact as well.
It is amazing how many people like many different styles of music. Every style of music has its fans. The problem I have is that the hot 100 doesn't really reflect that. There is too much left out. It is not Lil' Wayne always being #1 that bothers me. It is the fact that the same genre of music is overly dominent when there is so much more to music.

I hate all this arguing about single sales and what happens on the Billboard Hot 100!
Okay we all know we like different stuff and would like to see this song at #1 or this song but really its just the case of the Airplay and Digital sales. Thats how songs like Lollipop (which I personally don't like but I deal listening to it) and Low got to the top is because they got downloaded and they got requested on radio.
So basically what I'm trying to say is if you want a song you like to do really well and reach #1 you Download the song and request it on the radio. No more complaining!
EDIT: sorry feelings took over made it more better

The reason why t-pain sings with auto tone
his words:
I just got tired of turning on the radio and everything just sounding the same,” remarks the Tallahassee, Florida native whose government name is Faheem Najm. “I know it might sound corny, but I wanted to try and make something different

Exactly. I read a few of rapisalive's ignorant comments on the first page, and zoomed to the last page afterwards.
yuminari made a REALLY good point though:

Everyone has their own unique taste in music, so it's virtually pointless to sit and argue about what genre is better than another and why a vertain genre shouldn't be represented on the Hot 100. Radio is practically obsolete ANYWAYS, and why does chart rankings really matter?
True, they determine if a song is recieved well by a audience, but they don't determine a song's QUALITY. A lot of people feel that if their favorite song EVAH isn't #1 for 15 weeks, then the charts are awful, when in reality; The Hot 100 wasn't created to suit your specific wants and needs; and it isn't like peaking at #76 on the Hot 100 means a song sucks.
