What
you don't understand is that there is a broad spectrum of gay people. The ones who are flashy and lispy aren't just doing that for attention. They're just the ones who happen to be visible in the media, because they're more noticeable.
I'm about as far from a limp-wristed "queen" as you can get and I used to feel the same way you did. I was very closeted, but then I went to a gay pride parade, and it felt
AMAZING to be out in public cheering for guys in leather and feather boas.
What Gaga is trying is this: You take it to the extreme, so that anything less than that extreme is perfectly acceptable.
