Despite all of our progress, being gay is still seen by society as something shameful. These types of reactions just prove it. Straight is still the superior preference.
It's sad. There's a really damaging message being sent whenever someone reacts like this: "I'm not part of your group and how dare you assume that I am. But it's ok if you are tho. #equality" Like, you can't say you stand up for equality for all social groups and then turn around and act offended that someone might consider you part of that social group. That's the most backhanded kind of support. Nobody wants to be part of the "less than" group.
And in the case of this article, his reaction doesn't even make sense. It never even suggested that he might be gay.
