pretty sure it's fake, she tried to buy herself out of her contract before (allegedly), and Dr. Luke and Sony refused to let her go.

This makes no sense. Of course 250k towards piles of legal bills will help Kesha. It'll also help her record music without Sony which is what she wants. If she was ignoring Kesha completely and supporting Luke that would be something different.

Actually it's quite smart from both sides, because donating your money is showing real support. Media is gonna be all over this news and it's really gonna help Kesha's case raising awareness to even more people!

Because it raises awareness for the case and rape in general. The money is great but it won't bring any awareness to the situation. Money does not solve all problems.

I guarantee you Kesha would rather be in debt and released from her contract than being stuck with Dr. Luke and not having to worry about paying legal fees. She wants her freedom back, not any money.

Taylor truly can't win with some of you guys. I guarantee that if she tweeted something, some of these same people would be saying she only did it for her personal gain and to look good. So instead of publicly speaking about it, she quietly sends her a huge sum of money (which she is clearly thankful for), and you guys are still criticizing her for that? Like, what the hell is she supposed to do? Kesha hasn't been working for a few years, she's stuck in a contract, and has a lot of legal fees to pay as well as her own personal expenses. This is a huge help.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Kesha wasn't that rich.

She never had big tours, albums, or endorsements deals like the other pop girls. She only ever had royalties from singles, and given how Sony and Luke have treated her, it's questionable how much they were paying out.

You guys understand how recording contracts work, yes? The label give the artist an advance ($$$) to record and promote their album, and then artist's royalties go towards paying back the advance until they've paid it off. Then they start making money.

Considering

- how much Sony claims to have invested in her career
- how poorly her last album did
- trips to rehab
- legal fees

etc., it's definitely possible that Kesha needs the money
