A pure bop. Some have commented on weak lyrical content, but this doesn't need deep, insightful lyrics. Katy wrote this song as a bop, and she achieved that. Wiley also makes an appearance. Can't wait for her new album.

Can't have a Best of 2012 without Miranda Lambert, who I discovered this year. Three of her four albums are three of my favorites ever. Since she didn't have new songs in 2012, I picked my favorite from her 2011 album, Four the Record. I love the message of this song, which is about accepting all types of people because everyone's different. It's a nice liberal attitude from a typically-conservative genre. Hopefully Miranda has new music this year.

This has to be my #1. It was by far my most-played song according to last.fm. Some have called it a cheap version of "We Found Love", which is an insult. WFL is a Calvin instrumental with occasional Rihanna vocals. "Call My Name" feels like a proper pop song with fully-developed structure & Cheryl's vocals are all over the track. So many hooks, such a great beat. I fall in love all over again every time I hear this song.

I'm not saying these are the five worst pop songs of 2012. I don't have the kind of arrogance to make such a definitive statement. These are just five songs that stood out.

"Stupid Hoe" - Atrocious. Nothing works here. Tuneless, really. I've heard this song twice and never want to hear it again. This was really where the downfall started for Nicki.

"Sad Beautiful Tragic" - Such a snoozer. This song shouldn't have been on the album. It reminds me too much of "Last Kiss", which is already a mediocre song. True filler.

"Circles" - Wow. Bad Rihanna impression on the verses and 2005 Ashlee Simpson on the chorus. Who thought it would be a good idea to put this on the album? Gotta love the random "Mother****er" at the end. Stay classy, X.

"Part of Me" - Uninspired and unnecessary single. This should have stayed a demo. The worst part is that it debuted at #1. Sad times. And music video

"B-Day Song" - Wasn't this song originally on the standard edition? They made a good decision and moved it to the Deluxe. It still deserves to be dragged, though. I just don't get the point of it. It's not cute or anything.

In no particular order...

People hate this album for some reason (less pop), but I really like it.

Best Tracks: "Numb", "Loveeeeeee Song", "Stay", "Mother Mary", "Lost in Paradise"

She took a risk by doing a "half and half" album (like Nicki), except she succeeded (unlike Nicki).

Best Tracks: "I Knew You Were Trouble", "All Too Well", "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", "Holy Ground", "Begin Again"

This album is really missing the memorable jams/bops, but it's still a solid effort.

Best Tracks: "Girl Gone Wild", "Give Me All Your Luvin'", "Some Girls", "Superstar", "Love Spent"

Stellar debut from a promising British artist. Co-wrote and co-produced every song except for one (a cover).

Best Tracks: "Breathe", "Shades of Grey", "Inside My Love","Go", "See You Again"

Cheryl's best album yet. I love almost every track.

Watched this show after it won the Emmy. Season 1 is phenomenal; Season 2 struggled.

The cliffhanger at the end! Setting up for a great final season!!!

Another fun season of this messy reality show that I stan for. Best part of my summer Crappy winner, though.

Nice #1! "Call My Name" is such a jam.

I like that you called out "Sad Beautiful Tragic." It's lyrically trite and way beneath Red.

"Part of Me" is one of the worst things Katy has ever done (which is really saying something).

I really love MDNA B-Day Song is one of my favorites though
I also loved Lotus and Circles from it And I also love Stupid Hoe
