I d say that 21 is a bigger era (the biggest from a female artist) but Adele is not a bigger star compared to Britney back then, people missunderstand the 2 points (the bigger artist/album etc). Actually even Katy Perry is a bigger star then Adele, I mean the star power, media presence, etc...

for example, many said that Teenage Dream was as successful as Born This Way, however Lady gaga (during BTW) was still the biggest popstar.

Adele is not the one that makes you HARDLY stan, to make you follow her life and every move she makes etc...people agree she s one of the most talented artists though... like Norah Jones, she s just a different type of artist

Adele's sales are AMAZING, she sold 80s/90s numbers in the 2010s.

But Baby One More Time made teen pop come back to life and created a celebrity we all followed at a point, and let's face it, we wouldn't be here (this site) if it wasn't for Britney and BOMT. It's not the bigger era and Adele's was more successful, but Britney's first years changed music/celebrity/fanbases.
