This song turned me into a Marina fan. This was the first song I'd ever heard from me. It was something new for me! It starts all pretty and nice-flowing, then it gets cut into this hard and grimy beat. It's so genius and is typical Marina fashion. This song is always playing on my iPod. Absolute perfection of pop right here.
This song absolutely blew me out the water when I first heard it (the original). It was something so new and fresh, something M.I.A. always manages to do. A crazy instrumental mixed with M.I.A. always results in perfection. M.I.A. didn't seem to give a **** about this song when releasing it because 1) she knew it was a great song and 2) it's M.I.A. Lol. Then we the N.A.R.S. Remix with Missy and Azealia came out... I was done. Danja (one of my favorite producers) managed to increase the greatness of the instrumental into something more trippy, tricky, and powerful. Missy hops on with her explosive verse before passing the torch to Azealia. Azealia absolutely claimed the song as her own with her verse. It's one of the best verses I've ever heard, honestly. Both the original "Bad Girls" and the N.A.R.S. Remix absolutely took a **** on almost every song this year. It's just that badass.
This song... Oh my God. When I say perfection, I literally mean this song is perfect. I had the privilege to listen to this God-worthy song a few months in advance before it's release and I have been screaming/crying/sobbing/dying/etc. over it ever since. Every time I play it, it just always seems to get better and better... AND BETTER! The mild amount of dubstep in the super-happy beat makes this song come alive as one of Nicki's best. Ever. The chorus/hook is literally what it is: it hooks you to the song so it won't ever get out of your head. Nicki's verses on this song about a man she wants is so quick and punches so many of her other contenders out of the game it's unbelievable. The bridge gets slow and sexy and I always imagine Nicki in just panties and a bra being all sexy up against this man she is dedicating this song to. This song will most likely miss its deserved #1 spot, but that's okay. It will always remain #1 in my heart no matter what. There's something always new to discover about this song which makes it so fun to listen to. It gets your spirit in happy hopes and just makes you want to drive with the windows while singing "Va va VOOM, VOOM!" Even though Nicki had a rough year, she still managed to rise above and release the best song of the year.
