Exactly. The man who produced this is the one responsible for Robyn's Body Talks...the beat is sick though I do hear some generic elements (We R Who We R comes to mind) but overall it has a 90s throwback feel to it and it's different from anything being played on the radio.
Now that I think about it, Katy is the biggest risk taker in the music industry by releasing such "generic" songs seeing as radio seems to be tired of this sound and overplaying the experimental songs from artists nowadays. True Queen Of Pop...everyone else's faves could keep trying.
Nothing about this song is "throwback". It's a lazy pop song with stale production.
