I find this very believable tbh.
It also just goes to show how sexist the industry is. He bullied her for not being the perfectly beautiful cookie-cutter pop star that the GP were used to. But she still slayed the entire pop music scene during her debut, so obviously it didn't matter that much. Besides, she's still beautiful. Sure, she's not Britney Spears circa 2001, but she's still pretty enough to be marketable and sexy.
And with pop stars like Lorde and Adele slaying the pop music scene, I don't think physical appearance and weight are anywhere near as important as they used to be. Luke seems to have the mentality of a late 90s/2000s music studio executive, probably because that's the era of music his career blew up in.
