lol being a pescatarian makes no sense, do humans live in the ocean? No so why would we eat animals from an inhospitable place? Also the Mediterranean diet has way too much fat which causes diabetes. Sorry but y'all think about nutrition way too deep, animals don't understand what vitamins and protein are they just eat what appeals to them in nature and that to us fruit.

Hey so I'm not sure who is and isn't aware of my situation, but there was a vegan thread last year that I was apart of (I guess it expired or got closed?) I've been a vegetarian for over 11 years. I became a vegan on the 1st of January last year. I was extremely happy with the decision that I made and very content living that lifestyle. I never craved any of the non-vegan foods I was used to eating. But toward the end of the year I basically had no choice to put my veganism on hold due to malnutrition. I felt like I was going to just fall over or pass out all the time. What my problem was, was that I was not taking the proper alternatives and not getting the proper nutrients. I am currently very unhappy as only a vegetarian, but I know my health comes before anything else so I cannot live a vegan lifestyle. I would REALLY like to go back to it though. I would really appreciate as many of you letting me know vitamins, nutrients, etc... you take and the best, but also inexpensive food alternatives that you buy at the supermarket. Thanks <3

We don't live underground or on trees either yet get our fruit, veg and grains from there. I do not believe we are animals, I think both groups are two very different, and humans >> animals >> plants. Though most will obviously find this statement ludicrous. Any diet can cause problems if you under or overeat in it. A good friend of mine was on a healthy vegan diet for three years and was admitted to an emergency ward for anaemia and protein deficiency, and she was on a doctor-mediated diet and taking supplements. This is one of the main reasons why I advocate against veganism. She now has an increased chance of heart failure and also has arthritis of the knees.
I am not trying to disrupt the thread, and I think that what you do is wonderful for the planet and the animals who go through torture, but I am just warning you that it can also effect your health. Everybody's body is different and it may lead to severe health problems in your future. It's not the diet or the actions you are doing I am hating on, just what this can lead to
All the best you guys!

we don't live on trees???? Lmao you know exactly what i meant. As for your friend i don't know her or her situation but a protein deficiency is pretty rare since we make our own amino acids and only need the 9 essential ones which can easy be obtained from plant sources otherwise elephants, gorillas, giraffes, rhinos etc would be dead. Same thing with iron which can actually be harmful in large amounts. You can get everyeverything you need from a plant based diet beaides b12 which bacteria make NOT animals.

Fair enough, we both have different opinions on the matter. I respect yours, but do not agree with it. And I'm sure it's the same vice versa. Wishing you the best health regardless, you must have a good heart to be so generous to the animals living through suffering by giving up meat etc.
All the best

WAIT! I don't want to have anaemia and protein deficiency. What can I do to prevent this?
I was on Reddit and a lot of the ex-Vegans quit because of that reason: Anaemia

Make sure you regularly get your iron level checked. Ensure you eat enough iron by consuming leafy greens and legumes and a source of vitamin c at meals, while avoiding tea and coffee at the same time.
Also make sure to supplement B12.

Can I have a question to y'all? What's the best thing to use instead of minced meat? For bolognese spaghetti for example

Sorry boo, I didn't mean to scare you! In fact, I read through a lot of the thread and after seeing your very healthy and balanced diet, you should be fine! If I were you, I would get checked out by your local doctor maybe once a year just to make sure your protein and iron levels are high enough!

There is vegan minced meat made from soy, which is available in stores. But there are also lots of recipes for homemade vegan bolognese sauce, for example with lentils, just have a look on Google

I know I checked recipes, but they used mostly just vegetables instead of the meat you know. I want something that's sort of like minced meat. Thanks tho, I will check the soy minced meat out!

Quorn is the only one I have tasted and heard of, and while it doesn't look too appetizing when raw, it tastes very good! However there have been questions as to how healthy it actually is. It is very low in fat and high in protein though

Yeah, I'm eating Spinich, Romaine Lettuce, Lentils, Black Beans, etc..
I checked on Cronometer app and also MyFitnessPal app, and they both report that I reached my Iron, Protein goal
I'm taking a B12 supplement
How often do I get my blood/physical test checked?

Sis you really have nothing to worry about it seems! I would personally suggest adding fish to your diet, but I realise you probably do not want to do this.
You can get an all around blood test from your local doctor. It takes only a few seconds and tests white blood cells, red blood cells, iron content etc.

Careful with Quorn though - it is only vegetarian, not vegan, as it contains egg. They are working on veganising their product range but they said it is a lengthy process.

That sounds good, I wouldn't worry too much then.
I'd say once a year is fine, that's what I do - unless you notice any symptoms that might point to a deficiency. I had it with iron once, and it showed in a constant headache (that wouldn't go away even with painkillers) and feeling constantly tired.
