At the end of the day, it comes down to what they're none for. Mariah, ha voice. Jen, ha ass?.
Mariah's voice is far more iconic, and Jen's ass has been surpassed by the likes of Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj.

touch my body for sure is her last real hit.
obsessed was sort of a fluke success for a literal second
everything else you mentioned is/was irrelevant.
AIWFCIY is a christmas classic and will continue to grow in success, but its also an old school MC track. I wouldn't count it in terms of her new releases for the past decade.
for some reason even though JLos songs suck and dont even do that well, she still manages to have her current music career seem more relevant than MC. I mean look at her youtube views and streaming. JLo has also managed a more recent hit than MC. On the Floor is bigger than anything Mariahs released since Touch My Body.

im just trying to play devils advocate here.
because tbh mariahs music career is not in a much better state than JLos and the fact that her only real continued source of relevance is a christmas song she released a long time ago says something.
I think Mariah is a music legend and JLo is a legend in terms of celebrity and celebrity branding. Which is its own entity honestly. She has excelled in lanes that Mariah hasn't, but Mariah musically outweighs her for sure. I was just saying, JLos music career hasnt exactly been irrelevant so much as its just been unsuccessful because her music sucks.

Because Ain't Your Momma was streamed a lot, so naturally this puts Jennifer Lopez ahead of the 2nd best selling female of all time, a multiple Grammy winner and powerhouse hitmaker with 18 #1s.

Mariah only has 1 studio album that flopped, her last one (2014).
All her other ones are certified by the RIAA and other markets.
And it's just since this decade and a 4 years long gap between releases in which he mothered twins that her hit making days took a serious dive. Acting like she's been flopping since 1999 is so extra. The only year in which Mariah was not present on the H100 was 2007, otherwise she has a song charting from 1990-2006 and from 2008-2015 (soon 2016 too).

You mean, Mariah's voice WAS far more iconic, since she barely has a voice now. Even a leaf on a wind is a better power vocalist compared to your alcocholic, bitter fave I'd be mad too if my faves career was killed first by JLo and fatality finished second time by Ariana While my fave is selling out her Vegas residency, filming and acting in countless TV shows and movies topping ratings and box offices, producing, recording, doing dozens of endorsments, your has-been fav is entertaining herself acting in a Hallmark christmas movies, shooting a Reality TV show nobody wanna see and emberrassing herself on Instagram drawing her unexcisting curves in paint. SIT.

Mariah, at one point (and this is debatable), being a singer who can/could actually sing trumps a singer who could never, still doesn't know how to sing.
Its better to have once had, than to have never had at all.

naw, my fave only performs 9 concerts in a row in Vegas and then embarks on a global tour which by the extension of the Elusive Chanteuse Show was played is stadiums across Asia and huge venues in Europe, North America and Mexico. <3
When was the last time, Jennifer sold over 15,000 tickets for the O2 in London?

Why is there still a discussion?
No way in hell is J.Lo bigger or more iconic than Mariah.
A J.Lo vs Christina Aguilera or Avril Lavigne thread would be more appopriate.

My ear drums are living in the reality that is 2016. And a JLo stan trying to argue about vocals, against someone, who even at her worst, can sing circles around JLo is just...stupid.
I mean, by all means, be a stan. But don't be a delusional one.
