My favorite rap artist. A true genius. He speaks his mind, he doesnt give a ****, his lyrics are brilliant, his album is perfection, the collaborations are awesome, Love the Way You Lie is my favorite Rihanna collab, and Eminem is just a superstar. I know he will continue to make history !
Katy Perry
Album Released (Peak/Certification):
Teenage Dream (August 2010). Peak: #1. 192,000 first week. Certified: (Not Yet Certified)
Singles Released (Peaks):
California Gurls (feat. Snoop Dogg) Peak: #1 Billboard Hot 100 (6 weeks) #1 Pop Songs (7 weeks) *Certified 4x Platinum*
Teenage Dream Peak: #1 Billboard Hot 100 (2 Weeks) #1 Pop Songs (4 weeks)
Firework Peak: #1 Billboard Hot 100 (2 Weeks) #5 Pop Songs
Grammy Nominations: 4 NOMINATIONS: (Album of the Year, Pop Vocal Album, Female Pop Vocal Performance, Pop Collaboration [With Snoop Dogg])
I cant even explain to you my hatred for Katy Perry before Teenage Dream. I thought she was an annoying, wanna be indie, bad singer (still is), pop weirdo. I couldnt stand her songs, and her voice, especially like on songs like "Thinking of You" , but California Gurls came out, and I fell in love. The album is great, its pop generic perfection, but her voice sounds better, the songs are better, and the whole image is better. I wish her good luck in the years to come, and so happy shes BFF's with Rih!
Shontelle
Album Released (Peak/Certification):
No Gravity (September 2010). Peak: #81. 5,000 (Estimate) first week. Certified: N/A
Singles Released (Peaks):
Impossible Peak: #13 Billboard Hot 100 #9 Pop Songs *Certified Platinum*
Perfect Nightmare Peak: N/A Billboard Hot 100 #40 Pop Songs
Grammy Nominations: None
In my opinion Shontelle had a great year. She proved she wasnt a won-hit wonder (kinda) and had a summer smash! Her second single flopped, and her album did horrendous , but she brought great music, she worked hard, and her label should have pushed the promo and the singles! She really has talent, and could be very successful, hopefully she will do even better in the years to come!
Rihanna
Album Released (Peak/Certification):
Loud (November 2010). Peak: #3. 207,000 first week. Certified: (Not Yet Certified)
Singles Released (Peaks):
Rude Boy (From Rated R) Peak: #1 Billboard Hot 100 (Five Weeks) #1 Pop Songs (Two Weeks) *Certified 2x Platinum*
Rockstar 101 (From Rated R) Peak: #64 Billboard Hot 100
Only Girl (In the World) [From Loud] Peak: #1 Billboard Hot 100 #1 Pop Songs (Three Weeks) *Certified Platinum*
What's My Name (feat. Drake) [From Loud] Peak: #1 Billboard Hot 100 #10 Pop Songs [/I]
Grammy Nominations: 4 NOMINATIONS: (Record of the Year [With Eminem], Rap/Sung Collab [With Eminem], Dance Recording, Short Form Music Video [With Eminem]
Surprised shes not #1? Rih had a great year. The only thing that went wrong was Rockstar 101 and not handling Rated R better. They also could have promoted the tour a bit more...but besides that, she has 4 #1's (if you include Love the Way You Lie), a great selling new album, more singles to come, and shes doing great! What year has RiRi ever not done great? I wish her the best for next year!
Nicki Minaj
Album Released (Peak/Certification):
Pink Friday (November 2010). Peak: #2. 375,000 first week. Certified: (Not Yet Certified)
Singles Released (Peaks):
Massive Attack Peak: N/A Billboard Hot 100 #65 R&B/Hip Hop Songs
Your Love Peak: #13 Billboard Hot 100 #22 Pop Songs #4 R&B/Hip Hop Songs
Check It Out (feat. Will.I.Am) Peak: #24 Billboard Hot 100 #21 Pop Songs [/I]
Right Thru Me Peak: #26 Billboard Hot 100 #4 R&B/Hip Hop Songs [/I]
Grammy Nominations: 1 NOMINATION: (Rap Performance by a Duo or Group [With Ludacris])
Nicki Nicki Nicki! I have never seen an artist blow up like this! Shes on every hip-hop album, on every hip-hop single, in every music video, is everywhere! Her first album had explosive first week sales, shes doing great with her current single, and she is a crazy ****ing bitch! Love her personality, her talent, and her image! Wish her the best of luck for next year!
Stay tuned for my Top 100 Songs of 2010 !
