This video is stupid, yet I still felt offended (for like 30 seconds).
What a stupid video.

What's the point of using a washcloth that harbors bacteria and germs if not cleaned regularly?
Just using a bar of soap is easier, more practical, cleaner, etc.

Pretty sure those are script writers, not the white actors
2. Why do you freak out when black people are cast to play white fictional characters?
Most dont
3. What's the big deal if Idris Elba plays James bond?
It isnt and most would agree
4.Why is a big butt and big lips considered attractive on a white woman and unattractive on a black woman?
Its not though...?
5. Do ya'll really think Miley is the one who created twerking? Really?
No but she helped increase its popularity.
6. Why Am I supposed to teach you how to twerk?
Youre not
7. Why is it that white people act as though they have discovered a new trend when people of color have been doing it for virtually years?
Most dont, and refer to 5
8. Why is it when a black woman wears her hair natural, it's seen as inappropriate, but when a white woman does, its praised?
Most would not think its inappropriate so...
9.Like..Can you appropriate my student loans? Can you take that off my hands?
That is literally the worst comparison you could choose
10. Why is it that white crime is seen as an isolated incident, but black crime is a representation of my entire community?
Again, its generally not.
11. Why does talking about race make you feel so uncomfortable?
Because everyone is eager to be offended these days and will call you racist with no hesitation.
12.You don't really believe racism is over because we have a black president, do you?
No, dont think very many people do.
13. Why is it so easy for you to notice when there are no black people around, but you always notice when there are no white people around?
Thats just human nature, white people hang out with white people and in america are the majority. So a situation in which there is no white people is abnormal.
14. Why do you want to be color blind?
No idea where this came from but im assuming people would want it because there would be no racism, though not really cause black and white are shades so...
15. Why do you wanna say the n-word so bad?
Most dont and avoid it like the plague because its offensive.
16. If I don't use it, what makes you think you can?
Some black people do use it so this doesnt make sense.
17. Why do you always want to touch our hair?
Because majority in america dont have it and are curious
18. Who told you it was ok to touch people without their permission?
Most people dont in the first place
19. Why do you feel like having one black friend makes you a cultural expert, or not a racist?
This argument is used by all races and I dont know why.
20. Why do you feel comfortable cursing around your parents?
Most dont
21. Why do you kiss your dogs on the mouth?
?? pretty certain this isnt an exclusively white person thing??
22. How come you can't pronounce names like quvenzhane , but can pronounce La Bouf and schwarzenegger just fine?
Because the white people names you chose are celebrity names and well known.
23. Why is a lions life in Africa more important than peoples lives here in America?
That has nothing to do with race but okay
24. Why is it so hard to acknowledge your privilege?
Its not, but it shouldnt just dismiss every white persons life as just smooth sailing.
|
This is the best response in this thread.
Also i cant take that video even seriously, if they are gona preach about equality between races then they shouldnt have questions which are stupid and pointless that has nothing to do with race at all.

Incredible offended by this question, what kind of ********?? Im DISGUSTED! Are they applying that animals have no place on this earth AND that we shouldnt care about them at all??
What makes the human race even more important than animals in the first place???
So are we just gona forget about the animals just because of black people and their issues? Do they have a proper education to even understand how much animal cruelty there is in this world, and how important it is to speak up and defend animals because they do NOT have a voice of their own to defend themselves!
Black people really need to get a grip, it isnt ALL about you all the time, you are NOT the only ones in this earth that have issues in this world.
What make them think that black issues is more important that animal cruelty in the first place??
Animals >>>>>>>>>> humans

I think the worse generalization is that they always represent "people of color" as black people, like they are the only mention-worthy minority, while never mentioning other (even more minor) minorities, like Asians.

BuzzFeed.Go figure.
As for the hair part, I can't speak for all Afro-Texturized hair, but mine feels like a cross between a brillo pad and a dry sponge. Now can you please get your paws off of my hair.

Sigh, this will not help the issue, not all white people are evil racist spawn of satan. I love how it's trendy to be bias toward white people and stereotype them, while many of them are actually fighting against racism, and some do it better than the poc.
Imagine a similar video was created with questions like "Why most black people have no father". Racism and prejudice come together. If you want people to stop stereotyping and being bias toward you, you may need to start within yourself first.

I'm on mobile and just getting into this fascinating thread tbh, I would need to be on desktop to answer fully but I just need to halt this^ misnomer a sec. You will NOT come for my hygiene. I was raised correctly, I use washcloths.

I acknowledge my white privilege and male privilege. I've been active in two separate campaigns to fight both. I was taken into custody for this once. Just saying although our number is probably few atm, there are whites out there who can see. Google Leon Briggs and EverydaySexism to see what I am involved in. POC in my family.
My boyfriend is conservative which leads to some very heated debates, but I'm getting there. The conflictive nature of our viewpoints kept our relationship alive through some very dark times (both lost a parent within weeks of each other). It's distressing for a lot of white people when they realise the deal, but the awakening is real, perpetual, and now unstoppable IMO. We will get there y'all.

The title should be "ignorant people" rather than "white people".

I'm annoyed at this video because it "innocently" generalises white people as racist even though a lot of the questions that they ask generalise white people which is an ineffective way of trying to get more people on your side, AS WITH ANY OTHER ISSUE. I support women's rights yet I tell my female friends to stop saying things like "all men are pigs". I support gay rights yet I tell my gay friends that they shouldn't expect all straight people to be comfortable with you hitting on them. I support black rights but I'm telling the same people that I FIGHT FOR that very few people respond well to BEING GENERALISED, It is not difficult to put the words "most" or "some" in these videos to stop "white people" from acting the same way they're acting now.
It's not a case of "BOOHOO poor white people for being generalised as being racist whilst others are dying", it's just a stupid way of trying to get people to talk about these serious issues. This is also so stupid since no one's issues are in relation to others. I can be hungry even though people are starving. Women can complain about domestic violence even if there are some women getting raped. In the exact same vein, white people who are ON YOUR SIDE can say "hey please don't say all white people are racist" even though there's a very prevalent race issue for black people.
This video also annoys me as they ask things which detract from the serious questions. What kind of stupid question is "Why do you always make such horrible decisions in horror movies?". Trivialising this serious issue by putting it in the same video as questions about the treatment of black people is gross. Using student loans as a metaphor for appropriation is ridiculous.
And before anyone comes in saying "what a white person response", I'm not even a white. It's just that from another outsiders perspective, white people are not disregarding these issues entirely, they're saying do not classify them with the racist people that THEY are trying to fight against alongside you.
|
Yawn, what a dumb response. It is so counterproductive lol. Instead of actually being productive in your activism, you're hijacking the issue at hand and crying that it trivialises the black struggle when all it does is isolate the ignorants (like you) from those who are actually progressive (e.g. my good sis Rider). Stop policing black people on how they bring awareness to issues, that's racist in itself.
The anti-blackness in this thread is RAMPANT.

Yeah, and most white (or even sane) people admit it's disgusting that he got murdered. I fail to see why he was brought up though.

What I tried to insinuate was that this whole "black people need to stop being so (passive) aggressive in their activism if they want real progress wah wah wah WAAHHHHH" thing from whites need to stop because clearly those who try to be passive and ~nice~ don't get very far do they

At least half of these questions are just plain stupid or meant for ignorant people instead of white people, but I actually tried to answer them all, and I don't agree with a lot of these questions.
or have never encountered these kind of situations. Racism is real, still exists and should be dealt with, but a lot of times people love to emphasis on colour with every little problem, even when you can easily argue that isn't about race, which can become annoying.

The scalding hot tea.
Did they generalise? Of course. But do white people generalise about black people? Yes.
I don't see why people are so bothered about it. Sure, they might not ALL apply to you, but some of them definitely did. I mean, black people have to put up with such generalisations every single day of their ****ing lives and you're telling me you can't take being generalised about for like 3 minutes?
Please.
