Archaeologists were able to discover many ancient cities described in Bible the same way as Heinrich Schlieman found Troy by reading Homer, even when everyone thought its fictional. We have also a lot of evidence that many biblical persons really existed, for example Pontius Pilate (we have coins, the stadium in Caesarea...)
