The two are already intertwined. The leading argument against abortion is that "God gave you this child, you can't refuse his blessing!" or the belief that human life begins at conception, which is a purely religious idea. Even when the person considering abortion is not necessarily religious themselves, they are forced to deal with the same stigmas attached as if they were, due to growing up in societies heavily influenced by religion. And they have religious people acting as a roadblock, as no society can seem to get the true "religious freedom" thing right; that is freedom of and freedom FROM religion.
Much like with gay marriage, tackling the issue of abortion while skirting around the tremendous influence religious dogma has had on the discussion is simply unproductive.
And you "stopped" me at the end of my post. I assume that means you agree with or cannot refute the first point?

I thin it's acceptable in cases where you're underage or raped etc. However if it's because you forgot to use protection, no. You could put the child up for adoption or be a surrogate for a family who wants to conceive.

Again, 300k children up for adoption in the US, but ya it's so easy just wait until they are fully developed and abandon them, I'm sure everything will work out great!
