To find the derivative.
For example, if you have a graph that shows the distance y someone traveled in x seconds, then y' shows the speed of this person at x seconds.
if the graph consists of 2 formulas multiplied, then you'd need that what you just wrote, to find the derivative, in this case the speed of the person
I always understand maths way more if I understand the context around it as well.
Sadly nearly no school ever teaches that, they just tell you the maths without any context
