Studio engineer could give you a much more better explanation about how the difference between music that is recorded with vintage tape machine, and the one that is processed via computer only.

De$muME. It's the only emulator that I know that is capable of playing the HG/SS and White/Black versions.
You could use No$GBA for platinum though.

It's a program which emulates or duplicates the function of a system i.e. Nintendo DS or GBA. With it you could play DS/GBA games on your computer. All you need is a working ROM of a game.
