Yes, I agree that having different stories fits the song well, not arguing bout that. I actually love that. And I thought Kelly was so adorable hugging the others at the end of the video, despite the cheese, hahahaha.
Still, at the end of the day, some stans want to see HER perform. She did amazing with the role she had in the video, no doubt. Also, Kelly's not selfish, obviously, but that's why we had the WDKY video, where the fans were in the video. It's alright to SOMETIMES be about her, and that's why some fans are a little frustrated.
At the end of the day, I'm not complaining, just critiquing. I'd much rather be in this position where we're hearing about her all the time and getting new media from her, as opposed to where we were a year ago, wondering if new music even on the horizon!

Kelly has been working so hard, she's been singing nonstop.. Tour, Singing competition show, Promo performances, TV performances. She can't be expected to belt high notes all the time, she was worn out for the BBMA's but she was back on form at DWTS. I'd rather she takes care of herself than go back to her Breakaway depression when people were putting this pressure on her to be perfect, kind of like you are doing now over analyzing her every move.

Check my posts. I never said I liked either of her two performances. I always said they were lack luster and not up to par and I'm not going out of my way to drag Kelly cuz of the video.

I just watched it in full, FINALLY... and I do quite like it. It is simple, but it's nice. Better than I thought it was going to be honestly.. I didn't expect much.
The only thing that struck me as a little odd was the use of the guy with one leg. The song is about a Dark Side and not necessarily a handicap..missing a leg would certainly cause someone to be in emotional distress and thus maybe have a Dark Side...but to me the song is more about having a Dark Side within and not necessarily some kind of physical imperfection. I guess it ties in ultimately but it almost made it seem like having a handicap automatically equates to being messed up in the head but maybe that's just me. I'm clearly reading too much into it. LOL

No, I agree with your comments on the one legged veteran. It was off putting but I think we are reading too much into it.

Oh, I only saw it once so to me I didn't even realize he was a soldier. But still, what does being a soldier have to do with having a Dark Side? I know many suffer from PTSD and what not from being in war or whatever, but that's not really implied in the video unless I completely missed it. It's just a minor thing though that struck me odd, not really a complaint.

DS was special in its own way. It's my favourite video this era 
Also Edge, a D5 is still pretty high even for a girl. It was sustained and had great vibrato. Come on, give the girl credit where it's due!

Sometimes soldiers need to do things that are usually perceived to be unethical (e.g. killing someone, separating families etc.) but they still do them in pursuit of a greater good (for the record, I don't condone war or violence). Even when wars end, I know there's a lot of guilt associated with that. For someone who's been injured in war - the guy with the prosthetic leg in the video - that injury can be a constant reminder of the horrible things they might have had to do. That would be his dark side.

Her DWTS was just OK, but it wasn't great. If Kelly wants to be an artist that just stands there and sings, then she needs to SANG and she didn't. I can say the same for all her recent televised performances tbh.
The reason I didn't like the Dark Side video was not b/c it didn't have over the top production. I actually don't like over the top production. I just thought the concept was not thought out and it was super cheesy. It DOES look lazy in the sense that the work was mediocre and I feel like she and her team could've done so much better.
Also, I'm not trying to be over-critical of Kelly. I'm just saying it as I see it, and what I see is that her vocal performances have been somewhat disappointing lately. If this is because she's overworked, then she and her team needs to strategize about it instead of us fans making excuses for her cause the general public sure ain't going to.

Lets take a moment and look at Kelly's 2012. I think we can all applaud the year she's been having. #1 single, touring, high profile appearances, new boyfriend, looking great, award nominations and wins, and now a new show!!!! I'm excited for DUETS!!!!
After watching Idol last night, I just had to go back and watch Kelly's winning moment. As someone who has followed Kelly since Idol, I am so happy for her. It really feels like everything is falling in it's place.
One "ok" video isn't gonna hurt her. Are y'all forgetting she did one of the worst movies in history? lol!! Yet, she came out unscratched. A few lackluster performances won't matter either... did you guys not hear how her voice gave out in the Breakaway and My December era? Critics still call her one of the best voices in the industry.
Girl can step on **** and still come out smelling like roses.

Haha, after I was just saying how great the Duets promo was.. I got in my car, turned on the radio and the first thing I heard was "Hi this is Kelly Clarkson... tune in to ABC tonight at 8 for the premiere of Duets!" it was cute. Promo everywhere
