The US release date is awkward though, why did they wait this long when the world premiere was like 1 1/2 months ago? It's Avenger's 3rd week and all but it's still THE Avengers, still hard to beat. If they wanted that #1 badly they should have released it in US when it's still hot worldwide while Hungers Games is getting weaker.

Big budgeted movie and all, but after Avengers was released, who's still gonna check out for this, really? Mostly bad timing, I guess.

Not really. The Pirates series is one of the highest grossing. At World's End is the most expensive film ever made with a budget of $300M and it made $963,420,425 WW ($309M domestically), and that doesn't even include DVD sales & TV deals. How is that even slightly comparable to Battleship's lackluster performance?

This is more comparable to the recent John Carter then any Pirates film....
