AI is well popular, they can afford some huge star. X factor is basically new so they can only afford one HUGE star. Demi has experience. And she is some-what popular, I think? They would've chosen the fourth judge as someone who they weren't going to need to spend a lot of money on, so whoever they chose would be a 'filler'.
