It's not true! Katy writes many of her songs! It was just a pressed soul that had a meltdown!

NOT. She co-wrote all of her songs except If We Ever Meet Again.

Have we knew the new formula yet? Propotion or simple all format combination?

Billboard, Nielsen and NARM's digitalmusic.org announced today the launch of the first-ever subscription services "On-Demand Songs" chart, and that this data will also be included in the Billboard Hot 100. On-demand streaming data is now factored into the chart's ranking, enhancing a formula that includes digital download track sales and physical singles sales, as tracked by Nielsen SoundScan; as well as radio airplay and other streaming services, as tracked by Nielsen BDS.

#1 debuts are not impossible. But they are for songs released after the album is.

Part of Me being **** doesn't dethrone I Kissed a Girl, Hot n Cold or California Gurls, all of which are above firework in the minds of the public (i.e. the people who matter).
Saying "Biggest Hit = Signature Song" is basically saying "Like a Prayer isn't Madonnas signature song" (Even though Firework isn't Katys biggest worldwide hit, but whatever.)

a new formula allows On-Demand songs (mp3 streaming on sites and apps such as Spotify and Yahoo Music) to be added to the equation which takes into consideration digital downloads and physical CD purchases, radio airplays and YouTube views.
the new formula was decided to make On-Demand a major part, almost equal to how much digital downloads make up the list and since mp3 streaming is so varied (or essentially it is. there are a lot of people nowadays who give either underground or fairly known artists so much play counts on their streaming profiles), it counts so much for artists other than Katy (who mostly racks in the downloads and airplay rather than target for the hipsters on Spotify), which does essentially make it more difficult to get a #1 debut, it makes it difficult to get a #1 single at that. 'We Are Young' was #1 for weeks before it bowed to Gotye because of On-Demand. so yes, this has a considerable amount of influence on the charts.

Yeah, but that's the song people recognize as 'the Katy Perry song'. In 9th grade a few of my friends were telling me that they were doing California Gurls in the school's lip-syncing competition (my school was weird) and me and my other friend agreed "if you're doing a Katy Perry song, why not do Firework?" I don't know why, but that's the song how most people know her.

It's her signature hit.
Most nominated at awards show. (Video Of The Year)
Almost 300 million YouTube views.
Most favorable from critics.
Biggest longevity with sales and airplay.
Her most performed song.
It was at the end of the CDT.
Katy Perry and many other people consider it her signature song.
And it did all that as a 3rd single.

and not to mention, Firework is around 5.5 million US Sales, still in the top 200 on iTunes (#175 I believe), so it's still selling about 7,000-8,000 per week. and it will probably get a slight boost around the "fooooourttthhh of Jullyyyyyyy"

Can't believe you lot underestimate I Kissed a Girl and California Gurls that much.
Yes, the song which would sound better sung by P!nk or Kelly Clarkson, with the Lady Gaga message and the most un-Katy Perry like production that any Katy Perry song has had ever is Katy's signature song. Well done y'all.
Llike it or not, Katy's signature song has to be a Dr. Luke song. That's her signature sound.
Awards and Sales make a signature song....

that's her signature formula and structure, but Firework was the most praised by the public and critics. that and E.T. were her two most publicly praised songs. and those were the two out of her commercially successful signature structure. yes people recognize her for IKAG and CG, but the first songs that people think of are Firework and E.T.

I think you can validate all 3 as being her signature. IKAG was a complete monster. Anytime someone starts off saying "I kissed a girl", your mind automatically goes "and I liked it". There's so many references to it, including a Kanye verse on the song "Haters" with Jayz: "How much they hate it? Very. Kiss girls like Katy Perry". She even referenced it herself in The Smurfs. Every time she gets introduced on award shows people always call her "the California Girl" or reference the whip cream shooting bra from the video. And Firework was played absolutely everywhere from movie trailers to the Macy's 4th of July Spectacular this past year. And when I see a floating plastic bag I can't help but think of it
Katy is synonymous with those 3 songs, but Teenage Dream is still her best
