I think either you misinterpreted or that website is wrong. Whether you like someone's tone or not is independent of pure vocal ability. She's technically a good vocalist. Her tone is something that can be debated, which is true for any other singer. I personally love her voice. Some dont. Does it make her a bad singer? Not based on that alone. Most people don't like the sound of Macy Gray or Michelle Williams voices but they are good vocalists. Just wanted to clear that up.

I love Selena's tone but she's a poor vocalist. I usually don't care for Miley's but she's a decent vocalist who has her moments. I think they all have unique tones though.

For me for example, I realize I would have a hard time participate in this ranking as I have mixed feelings for Hilary's songs.

I thinks she's a great singer. She's a really good singer, but her tone (I used the right word now ) is just not for me. I can understand other people liking it, but I don't...
Also, her type of music is mostly not what I enjoy.
So I'd have a hard time rating her, as I know she's good, but as it's not my type of tone and music, I can't really give a good rating...

and her voice is definitely something... special? as in, there might be people who LOVE it and people who don't like her voice/tone at all. So i can see where you're coming from.
