Denial, delusion, jealousy and a general feeling of wanting her to fail.
Didn't work though. I guess some people don't want to embrace self-love, political responsibility and a banging club beat. Their loss really, we all know they jam secretly.
I was a major fan of The Fame/The Fame Monster and was very excited for this album pre-VMAs (when she sang "Born This Way" chorus). The hype further went down upon hearing the full song. I do love "Judas", "TEOG" and "YAI". But as an album, it's horrible. It has nothing to do with jealousy () or wanting her to fail as some people like to claim. So dramatic. I would like her to make good music again. It has a few nice cuts, though.

How passive aggressive can you be? You could like...grow a pair and just say it to me but no.
The main problem with BTW is there are too many styles being mixed but that in a way is it's saviour too because everyone loves a few songs from BTW, I love the whole album as do many many people but it didn't have the main stream pop appeal that TFM had, still a great album as many critics and fans alike agree.
Everyone loves some songs and the MASSIVELY popular and *****d out Schiesse, Heavy Metal Lover, Bloody Mary, Government Hooker along with the singles are obvious examples that the album is actually pretty well liked. People wanted to see this era flop after the hype she put around it, for some people it lived up and for some people it didn't. A whole lot of ATRLers praised it like their own child and changed their tune after a while...band-wagoners I guess.

Because there are people who said the same/mentioned the album's success being one's reason for disliking it in the previous 6,000 pages. I just used your wording since they were directly above my post instead of dragging it out as I'm doing now. I don't need to "grow a pair", as I would've gladly quoted you if I wanted to single handedly argue with you, but that was not my intention as, like I said and can be seen, you weren't the only person to force such an ignorant reasoning against those who dislike the record. I'd have to multi-quote a handful of retarded statements.
Like JasperX said, but I want to add few things too. Overproduced, too many topics to cover, pretentious, over-hyped. Not hating BTW to be exact, but after the marketing team promised the public with "one of the best albums in years" and "people will pick their jaw from the floor", it's a huge let down. I've tried to listen the album forgetting about the marketing tricks Gaga & her team pulled, I still don't like it. Few songs are great, but overall, I feel like being preached.
Some can even argue that these don't belong:
As much as I like/STAN for this song,It doesn't help Born This Way's case, and the Madonna comparisons that came with it.
It's pretentious, it's ridiculous, it's obnoxious, it's over-the-top, it's unnecessary, it's discombobulated - and most of all, it failed to live up to the standards that Gaga provided for the album. But I've been using the past few weeks anyway.
you are pretentious if you like rihanna. :banana8:
The album was just terrible except for one song. Plus she hyped it up way too much calling it the album of a generation, and saying she's making a huge gay anthem. And Born This Way (the song) had a generic beat and okay lyrics. She brought all the hate on herself had she been humble, and just let it flow rather than try so hard to make it a classic. The album would be way better
We've been through this over and over again. The album isn't hated on as much as people like to believe. Some of those who did dislike or hate the album had legitimate reasons for doing so. So you monsters and Gaga supporters can keep that 'success' argument because you guys do it to other artists too.
With that being said, the album wasn't bad. It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Despite how polarizing it was, I enjoyed and appreciated the themes and the overall delivery. But what turned me off from it was all the hype, the single choices, and the quality of the videos. I don't mind long videos, if anything for the sake of exposition like Bad Romance and Telephone, where it added to the song's theme but giving me 3-4 minutes of nonsensical imagery and gaga couture is tiring every 2 months (if she feels the need to cook up explanations of what the imagery and "symbolism" meant, it failed as 'art').
I love it and still use it. There are some songs that I hate. Which is shocking to me because of the amount of love I have for GaGa but there are songs I can not stand. But overall it was a good album.
all of the tracks sound the same except for you and i and government hooker. born this way, the single, is the carbon copy of madonna express yourself's instrumental. listen closely and you can hear that its exactly the same.
the fame and the fame monster were just better. the hooks were catchier and every song sounded different on the records (pokerface, just dance, beautiful dirty rich, your brown eyes) and fame monster ( teeth, so happy i could die, bad romance, dance in the dark etc).
born this way just didnt deliver probably because it was overhyped.
