Idol made a commercial about how their show is the only one that creates stars, was a diss to X Factor US and The Voice (even though it's true, lol). All of these shows diss each other. The point of this commercial was that Duets will NOT have judges. They won't be behind a table giving a critique, they will be singing with their contestants on stage.

Idol wasn't mad. They even said it's a compliment to them that one of their stars is being invited on their rivals show. It pretty much gave them their new catch phrase this season "Idol is the only show that creates stars" and Kelly is an example of that.
EDIT: They just showed a new commercial for Duets on ABC right now. It had them talking in it this time.

You should consider reeducating them on true smash Kelly songs.
