Yes, exactly, Avatar had a lot of other things going for it - the stars were the least of what drew people in. And no, none of those names you listed are bankable stars that get people to go see movies en masse.
And I never said that star power as a draw was non-existent for every type of movie. Brad Pitt is one of the biggest names in Hollywood over the past 20 years, Rihanna is in no way comparable.
Everyone is going to see giant robots and explosions. For all intents and purposes, this movie is Transformers 4. It was never gonna flop. 
And her face is on the side of every second bus for this movie.
