Nah, E.T. was promoted terribly. One performance and a few posters? It's amazing it achieved the success it actually got.
Imagine how big it could've been if it got Firework levels of promotion. It isn't that far behind Firework on sales and wasn't it bigger on US radio? it definitely got the most spins in one week or something like that.
Would've made a monster 2nd single (with Teenage Dream as single #1) anyway.

!!!!
ET & TD would have been great first and second singles.
I bet first week sales for the album would have been a lot higher. One or both of them could have debuted at #1. ET would probably be well beyond 6 million. Plus, ET would have had the benifit of still being relevant around Christmas.
My ideal era would have went like this
Singles
1. Teenage Dream
2. E.T FEAT KANYE WEST (I'd still like a solo version too)
3. Firework
4. Dressin' Up
5. California Gurls (have the Snoop Dogg be the remix, and a solo on the album a la E.T.)
6. Last Friday Night
Re-release
1. Wide Awake
