Debuting at #1 with 200k is pretty decent for a pop star such as Nicki Minaj. 200k seems to be the ballpark for pop stars. Major rap/Hip Hop and country players tend to hit above the 500k mark the opening week. Nicki is neither one of those, so I am not sure why some seem to be confused.

Just bcuz BM sent out a lot of copies doesn't mean the GP actually bought those copies.

I was in Target earlier today and believe it or not her album display was untouched. Ppl aren't really feeling Nicki enough to go out and purchase her album.

The lesson I'm taking from this is that promo means bugger all. GMAYL, a horrendous song and the centerpiece of the Superbowl performance did not even go Gold, whereas WAY is a huge hit even way later, simply because people are here for it. Promo on a show provides a little boost for one week that is completely negligible in the long run.

Well, I remember when the prediction for The Black Eyed Peas' "The E.N.D." was way off and they managed to sell over 300k in their debut week, fingers crossed that this will happen to Nicki too, she deserves it!!!

Well, every artist needs to experience a flop. Nicki really hasn't had that happened to her since Massive Attack. It'll teach her to think more about which side of her fanbase she should cater to more in the future. But it can only get better from here (dear lord I hope).
