I am planning to spend some dough on EXO's album, but I can only buy 1.
Being Chinese, I think I'm gonna buy EXO-M's. They are the superior vocalist, but they're the ones that are gonna need the help anyway.
LMAO ! Wtf ?!! EXO-K is faaaar far far far better vocally than EXO-M. Baekhyun and D.O literally SLAY the hell out of Chen and Lu Han (can't say for Xiumin as we haven't even heard him sing and I read that he was one of the main vocalist but he doesn't have any lines given to him so wtf).
Chen's tone is soooo effing basic, so is Lu Han's tbh. Baekhyun is going to be one of the best male vocalist in kpop tho.

And besides, I meant the whole group in general. Lay and Tao can hold their own on the vocal side of things as well.

My analysis is primarily based on 2 songs, shitloads of teasers and a showcase. I'mma need to hear them sing more anyway (especially Se Hun and Xiu Min).
But yeah, it might change after I hear their album and their live performance.

And I'm sorry but Chen's voice is really basic, his voice sounds so ****ing deja vu, not even mentioning how nasal his voice actually is.
And "they use similar vocal techniques" doesn't mean anything, SORRY QURL ! Vocal technique is something global, which is composed of different things such as support, inhaling/exhaling, soft palate, twang etc etc, and to sing properly you have to have a good vocal technique, of course. But having a good vocal technique doesn't actually build your voice on its own, you must have a good musicality too. And that's where, IMO, Baek et D.O are faaaaaar better at. They have this kind of R&B/Soulful musicality and tone that clearly set them apart and make their voices unique.
The way Chen uses his voice, even though he really has a good technique etc, is just so plain and basic, and yeah, I can't ignore the fact that his tone is typically the one I'd hate, just like Lay's. This nasally/high pitched/scholar tone ... EW.
Eh, I obviously prefer -K (by far). But I'm not here for -M to be trashed and put down just 'cause they're not as perfect as Kai & D.O, and have a fugly member.
As I said before, we don't have enough receipts to judge.
Baekhyun's vocals are just.. omg I cannot.
I can't believe he was only casted last year, he really is an all rounder, great dancer, can pull of any looks, MIND BLOWING voice.. Not to mention dorky and entertaining.
He reminds me of Taeyeon so so much, and lord knows how much I adore TaeTae.
EXO-M definitely lacks someone with a strong image, they need a Kai tbh LMAO.
