Debuting with 500k+ sales and having massive airplay updates and still only reaching #2. That has got to be the worst luck ever. Poor Bieber and even worse, poor Beliebers.
This seriously has made my day. Greatest Billboard Hot 100 week ever I think. I'm so happy.
This kid did not deserve to be #1, pre-teen girls only buy the song because he's cute not because the song is good, my nephew and my cousin bought the song like 10 times (altough I didn't tell them it doesn't count ) just because he's "hot".
Keep telling that to yourself, this time the hype will not even be comparable for what she left after The Fame Monster meanwhile she left with a sour note: Marry The Night.
That said, although TFM was hugely successful as an album, you could also argue that the era was left on a sour note after the Alejandro video. I don't think she'll debut with sales north of 700k, but I think she can have a big debut week based on her fanbase, and the possibility of hype.
His sales are impressive, none of the pop girls have done this so
Well, technically Gaga sold around 700k+ in a week, but only the first three days counted because of the day she released it. 509k in three days > 520k in seven days.

Gaga's not a single artist, so it doesn't matter what single she had last (look at Alejandro and look how well are tour is selling after a flop single).
So the new formula will make it harder for artists with large fanbases to debut at #1? Which means that people like Gaga, Taylor, and Justin will have a harder time and not an easy ride to the top?
No, like someone already said, Bieber had the bad luck of having extreme competition.. Not all the weeks you see a song so massive. So i'm sure we'll keep seeing songs debuting at the top spot in the near future..

Britney and Gaga, since Taylor and Justin never even had #1 singles on the Hot 100. I mean, two of Britney's last three lead singles debuted at #1 on the Hot 100, while the third one skyrocketed to the top from #96.
To be honest Island should have made "Boyfriend" available to fans via Spotify once it was released to iTunes. It's not as if these chart changes were new, they've been in operation for weeks now. If anything blame his label, not his fans.

Whatever gurl, go ask Billboard it's not my fault your fave released her song on a thursday.

Taylor won't have any trouble because she's pretty popular outside of her fanbase.
Gaga - it depends on how good the song is in the GP's eyes.
