People are criticizing the fact that anyone could do those pop songs; there's nothing distinctly Nicki about them. I disagree because nobody can do rap and pop in the same song like she does on Pound the Alarm, Starships, and Whip It, but I'm not surprised they think that. I think it's about how they expect that from people other than Nicki; with Nicki, they expect rap. Not fun single-worthy dance tracks. It's the same way they dragged Katy for Teenage Dream (which has been mentioned in several reviews for PF:RR that I've read) where they were like "this isn't a cohesive album, it's a collection of singles"... like, so?

I just don't get it when basically has songs that could be done by anybody, it's not really a big deal. It just seems like the fad right now to drag Nicki.

People saying that anyone could do the Pop side are really oblivious and have probably not even heard the album.
I mean, Rihanna doing the Rap on "Whip It" would sound really silly to me.

Exactly! Like, yes, they are worthy of being smash singles. They obviously didn't listen very well or pay attention if they think any pop star can do Pound the Alarm... my favorite part of it is the rap verse, and NOBODY can do that except Nicki. NOBODY.

As much as I love the RedOne songs, it just feels like going through the motions. He could've (and should've!) switched it up a little. We can see that he has the potential to create distinct songs like Poker Face and Judas, so I don't know why he and Nicki didn't get to it. Make Beautiful Sinner's instrumental more interesting, cut Gun Shot, and then the pop half is perfect.

... And I'm done for the day, I think. Talking to brick walls is not good for my soul.
So anyway, this album has been on my mind ALL day. I can't get "Gotdamn mutha****a, you talkin about me?" and "Cuz she look like she modelin' clothes in Dublin, so I think that she gettin' that green, that Goblin" out my head.

Something is telling me Nicki is selling in the 900k range.
Something is also telling me Lil Wayne and Birdman is going to make it possible.
and something is also telling me the breakdowns from her first week are going to be hysterical.

nah i don't think so. if that was the case, then they would have done the same for Tyga, but idk, I'm hoping for big numbers.

imo Nicki shouldn't be trying to have fun in her career. She doesn't really have a few years left in her music career and she should be doing her best trying to get that iconic status in Hip-Hop history. I don't want her to be the female Weezy, I want her to be the female Kanye or Jay with an actual legacy.
I don't want her to be the next Queen Latifah ): I want her to be the next Missy Elliot.
