That's the only thing they can say
The album had better reviews than the other nominees and they suddenly ignore that 'cause yeah, most of the Grammy voters sat together, talked about how bad they felt for her that they scrapped Gaga, Beyoncé, Dave Matthews Band and the other album because they felt the need to make up for her sadness.
The logic...

How can someone winning an award in a live television broadcasting boost ratings? As in, that literally does not make sense on any level. Please exit.

The Fame was robbed that is why.
I'm obviously kidding, I don't care.

However, this is a pointless argument on ATRL because rarely will you find somebody here who can look past the high school, 'good girl' aesthetic and actually listen to the lyrics. It is NOT an immature album, as anybody who really listened to it would know. The definition of maturity on ATRL = lyrics explicity about sex over europop beats.

It's not immature, it's just really shallow
I mean, I know that love songs sell albums, but for god's sake Adele did a better job with 21, and that thing is full of generic love

I'm mad because Speak Now was robbed so much. Without being biased, i still can't think of any album as solid as Speak Now. Fearless looks like an underdog compared to Speak Now.
No hard feelings for Fearless, but i believe Speak Now deserves the title as the most awarded country album in history more than Fearless. Although Fearless is still epic.

Because Fearless was a hugely successful album, commercially and critically. Not to mention it was probably one of the strongest albums then.
White horse? Breathe? Youre not sorry? Change? Fearless?
So, there you have it...

+1
Also this is my personal opinion, but I think other than it's one of the most commercially & critically successful. NARAS since 2009 has decided to go left field, trying to rebuild their credibility.
2009 - Alison Krauss & Robert Plant, Raising Sand
2010 - Taylor Swift, Fearless
2011 - Arcade Fire, The Suburbs
2012 - Adele, 21
Notice the similarities from each album. Those albums are about human emotions. Simple, true, raw, not overproduced. I even thought that the using of real instruments is a factor too.
Talking about Fearless. That album was a collection of stories about teenager's life. Doesn't matter which song is about who, it's the emotion of the song. If you really pay attention to it, no, that album is not all about love. One song for example, is thank-you song to her mom, also where she said that her brother is a 'better person' than her, and how her dad is a smart guy for marrying her mom.
Also little detail that I love from this album is, how loud & alive the guitars here. It's like a live band recording, done in an old school way.
Fearless is not an album that is full of love & heartbreak only. It's an album about her being a teenager.
Fearless is about her days being a teenager (16-18 to be exact). About things she went through. What do you expect from teenagers around that age anyway? Partying every day? Good music is music that people can connect to. Music that is honest. Where the artist writes songs about what he/she knows. Songwriter's job is to write good songs. And good songs are songs that can make you feel better after you listen to it. Not just making you tap your feet while listening to it. Some people connect with Fearless, some don't. That simple.
Actually talking about how important awards are kinda ridiculous. Since awards are given just as a way to say thank you by the industry, not about A is better than B. Since when does actually awards equal to quality? Awards are nothing. Justin Vernon said it better than me about how relevant awards are actually.

IASF, TF, or even The E.N.D. all deserved it over Fearless

Her music is not worth album of the year. I wish Taylor would hop off that 13 year old, middle school crutch she is using. That's like is Katy perry keeps making music that would be on Tennage Dream, wtf. She needs to mature lyrically. I give her all the praise for writing her own stuff and whatnot, but enough is enough. it was cute at first, but it times to move on.
She said speak now, and I just did. Get it together TayTay.

The Grammy voters said otherwise and at this point, that's all that matters.

Have you listened to any Taylor songs sans a few of the singles?

She deserved it tbh. Fearless is waaay more solid than both The Fame and I Am...Sasha Fierce. Not to mention the other nominees.

No Shade meant here, but I didn't know she had won AOTY.

The E.N.D. was a fun dance album, I stand by my claim
Single Ladies is one of many tracks that are great on IASF. Give it a listen.
Oh, and California Gurls isn't even on one of those albums

Sis, it's TF, not TD.
But still, you didn't lie.
And disco pretty much hit the nail on the head.
And LOL @ The S.U.C.K deserving AOTY more than Fearless. OK then.
