Yeah, while that is true, his numbers look suspiciously similar to those from past songs that had deals. It's just too big of a start, especially for Justin Bieber, who did not exactly have many radio smashes yet.
No shade, I just have a hard time believing anybody can debut with these numbers unless there is some sort of deal.
Basically radio deals are a natural development. While radio airplay usually is building slowly, digital sales often are the highest on week 1. A radio deal secures a high peak. Longevity still devites the songs that succeed and those that don't.
Boyfriend will most likely sell over 2.5 million copies but will peak in the top 15 on pop and and probably won't go top 20 on Overall Radio, just like all of his other singles. I hope I'm wrong though...
