Talk That Talk had the biggest hit of her career and the purpose of singles is to sell the album. That means her album should have the biggest head start compared to her back catalog. That didn't happen

And then you have other chicks how are scared to release a ballad, let alone as a first single.

Rude Boy was the only potential "easy hit" from that era.
