She'll be ok.
Demi, more than anyone else right now, reminds me of Britney in her prime.
Sweet, somewhat troubled, young girl who really just wanted to do what she loves for a living any way she can. She's relatable, very intelligent, and wears her heart on her sleeve(maybe too much for some people). She owns up to her mistakes too.
This is what I see in her. She makes some good music too and that keeps me coming back, but Demi the person, is why I stay.

What's her reason for performing tonight? I'd imagine to promote the single, but it's probably just extra money for her right now. I can't see ANYONE turning down American Idol.
This, to me, is a great exhibition performance of Demi for her fans, and for people who don't who she i, or on the fence, to see her on a big stage and hopefully pick up more fans. Which shouldn't be too hard, she seems really sweet in everything I've seen with her.
Does she really have anything else to prove with this era anyway? "Skyscraper" got massive praise on my timeline. I follow osme of the writers of her album tracks, music producers, an inspiration of hers, and from every area of music people loved it.
Seriously, there isn't much for her to gain from Idol, in the short term. In the long term, she can snag some new fans.

You are definately right, but it basically comes down to that those who heard it usually thought she's really good, but not that many people actually heard her songs.
She hardly got played on the radio for example. Then she did come on TV a few times but not that often. Many don't even know about "Skyscraper", even thought there was at least some hype around it.
Also, sadly, she's still seen as a "Disney star" sometimes.
And I know that Indie musicians would LOVE to be able to do this. But that is like when someone says they're hungry, you reply with "Homeless people are hungry".
I know it's a strange metaphor, but it comes down to that considering the hype that has been around her for a year, the effect it had was relatively low.
That said, I know many musicians who would do anything to be able to get a chance like this. So I do see your point, but I just don't think it's comparable

Agreed
and literally eveyone thinks she's only milking her stories when she's not... I mean yeah she's milking but that's not her intention only... her team made her milk it, not her.

Not specifically her team even. All the interviewers that keep asking her about it do it. Now I know usually hat's set up by her team, but not always, and her team also doesn't decide what question she will be asked...
She can't just not answer the questions If the interviewer ask her about it, she'll answer it.

i really think "milking" is exagerrated. I Mean it's not like she runs around screaming "I HAVE AN EATING DISORDER, BUY MY ALBUM UNBROKEN!!!"
She doesn't promote herself like that with every opportunity. I mean yeah she does interviews, and she tweets sometimes about it, but idk. I don't think you can say she's "milking" her story.

Since I know who she is I want to watch because I want to see her perform and hopefully get interviewed
"Disney star" is hard to shake. It tends to shake itself off if she just sticks around long enough. I doubt people will think of her as a Disney girl when she's 25 for example. While it's still on people's minds and fairly recent, people think that. I didn't watch her show on Disney though and primarily know her as a music artist. Acting feels secondary when I think of Demi.
As I said in a later reply, she'll be ok. She'll land on her feet whatever happens this performance or this era.
People relate to her. They relate to her music too, but isn't that just an extension of her anyway? She's got a connection with her fans. Once she gets you, she's GOT you
As for the indie thing, I was trying to put into perspective how fortunate she is. A song being #60 or #40 on the biggest charts in the land is a good problem to have Definitely compared to what she just got through.

That's definately true. Not much more to add...
Apart from maybe the music being an extension of her...
I know what you mean though, just sort of feel it doesn't do her singing justice. But in the end you're right

This is what I think too.
I've gotten to interview previously said indie artist, and as an interviewer not only do you want to know, but you want them to tell you. I think credit for said answers or new info from the person is also why it keeps getting repeated. That new interviewer wants to be the first one to get some new tidbit or information out of Demi. So the cycle goes on, until the public eventually forgets or moves on.
