Bruce Springsteen's new studio album Wrecking Ball is on course to sell over 200,000 copies by week's end on Sunday, March 11 -- so say industry prognosticators. However, that may not be enough to bump the reigning Adele from the top slot on the Billboard 200 chart.
Her 21 album will also sell more than 200,000 this week, and it thus may hold for a 24th week atop the tally. So far, only seven albums have spent 24 weeks or more at No. 1. The last to do so was Prince & the Revolution's Purple Rain soundtrack in 1984 and 1985.
As for Springsteen, Wrecking Ball follows his last studio effort, 2009's Working on a Dream. It started at No. 1 with 224,000 sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. If Wrecking Ball reaches No. 1, it will mark the Boss' 10th No. 1 album.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, March 14
