My favorites were Should've Said No, Tim McGraw, Our Song and Picture To Burn, although I love the entire album and my appreciation of it has only grown over time.
It's actually really funny though, because I loved her debut album so much but then I sort of forgot about her when she dropped off the radar. Then "Love Story" came out and I always knew it as "the song that mixed Romeo and Juliet with The Scarlet Letter" because that's all my classmates would ever talk about.
So I guess technically I was a fan all along, but my stanning started mid-Fearless era, because that was the point where I'd watch award shows (VMAs + Grammys) just to see Taylor perform. It's actually half her fault I became a fan of Gaga... If Taylor hadn't been at the 2009 VMAs, I'd never have seen Gaga's performance and I probably never have become a monster.

I think, if Hunger Games turns into the smash i expect it to be, it would do wonders for Taylor's appeal. Dare i say it, but i believe she is, IMO, at that "ELITE" stage right now where no other female can touch her. The Hunger Games Soundtrack should do well and i firmly believe that the film could surpass anything Twilight/Harry Potter started of with. Even on an everyday commute, i see at least 10 people reading the book.
All Taylor needs is to have Radio back her more, then there truly is no stopping her

I loved all of them too! Her debut is truly her masterpiece. The first TV performance I saw of hers was picture to burn at the CMAs, damn gurl she was on fire (no pun intended)
Also do you know where I'd lie is from? I've had it forever and I know it isnt just unreleased, and it wasnt on my T swift debut or the beautiful eyes EP,

Question: Was "Mean" at the Grammys the best award show performance of Taylor's career thus far?

I think I'd Lie may have been one of the old songs she once streamed on her myspace, so it may be possible you got it from there...
Otherwise, it is considered unreleased; it's never been physically or digitally included on an album to my knowledge.

Why do I have a feeling that she will peak around 6th/7th album? 4th album will only introduce her to a broader audience. Like many rock critics have said, she will evolves slowly but steady.

When do you guys think promotion for the next album will start? I know she's been mentioning it a lot but once it's completed. Around June/July?

Nah.
- Forever and Always at the '09 CMAs
- Ours at the '11 CMAs
- Innocent at the '10 VMAs
And maybe even Back to December at the '10 CMAs.
The "back up, baby, back up" parts in live performances of F&A give me SO much life.

Back to December and Ours>>>>>
Innocent was a mess. Mean was okay, I don't think it was that incredible lol.
As to the other question, I think around June will be the start of promo. I NEED 1 million first week. Then they can't say it was on the backs of hits like YBWM and Love Story, like they said was the reason Speak Now got 1mill.

21 has passed Fearless as the US's highest selling album released since 2005.
Fearless is still the highest selling album released since 2005 by a US artist though

Taylor from MTV regarding the next album.
Quote:
In 2010, Taylor Swift released the Grammy-winning Speak Now. The album was a study in the complexities of love and life, full of ponderings on the romance of new love and the pain of a broken affair. Drawing inspiration from her own life, the album topped the charts and kept Swift ever-present.
As she embarks on her next album release, she tells MTV News that she's still got work to do, even if her bosses at the record label are ready to pull the trigger on it.
"So far, I've been writing so much in the last year and the label keeps telling me, 'All right, we're finished; all right, we're satisfied; OK, this is done now.' And then I just keep writing and I keep turning it in in different versions," she told MTV News' Sway during "MTV First: Taylor Swift," when she dropped her video for her "The Hunger Games" track, "Safe & Sound."
"I'm going to work on it until I literally have zero time left to work on it, because I'm having so much fun working on this album," she explained. "I made my last album, Speak Now, with this idea I really wanted to make an album without writing with anyone else just because I always wanted to do that. And now I have a different approach to this record. I'm getting to work with people that I've always wanted to work with." That means that she's seeking out some assistance "from all different places in music."
"I'm trying to be as much of a sponge as possible," she explained. "You have to evolve and try new things and change and that's what I've loved to do with this album."
But just because she's trying some new things musically doesn't mean she's quite ready to move on from writing about love.
"I think that love is always going to be a huge theme in what I write about just because there are no two similar relationships, there are no two times that you feel love the same way or hurt the same way or [feel] rejection [in] the same way. It's all different and I'm fascinated by that," she said. "I really love to go back to human interaction and the way we make each other feel. But that at 22 is different than it was at 18 or 19 when I made my last album and 16 and 17 when I made Fearless. As you grow, you change in the way you process emotion."
|
at them calling it a Grammy-winning album.
Taylor's working with different people she's "always wanted to work with" and people from "all types of musical backgrounds."
Will it be rock? Will it be pop? Will it be country? Will it be indie? Will it be Minaj?
Are they legends? Newbies? Just songwriters?
We have to wait like half a year to find out.

And this is from Associated Press
Quote:
Taylor Swift may croon about the enchantment of love, but the superstar is currently flying solo.
“[I’m] completely [single],” Taylor told Access Hollywood correspondent Kit Hoover, when asked about her romantic status during a junket for Taylor’s new animated film, “The Lorax,” in Los Angeles.
“[Are you] loving it?” Kit asked.
“Yes! I’m actually really good at being single,” the “Mean” singer answered with a smile. “As much as I love to complain about it, I’m actually very independent and I’m fine. I’m really good by myself.
“But I do love to complain about being single, even though I’m really I’m fine with it,” she added.
The 22-year-old country cutie – who has been linked to Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal and more over the years – says she doesn’t have a particular “type” when it comes to men.
“No, I’m random,” she told Kit. “There’s no way to predict a pattern. That’s what my friends tell me.
“So, that’s also kind of good, [it] sets the bar low for the future,” she added, laughing.
The singer – who is known for airing her breakup grievances in song – said the fear of having their personal issues forever remembered on one of Taylor’s hit albums doesn’t usually scare off potential suitors.
“I don’t think it ever bothers guys when things are good, like, in the beginning,” she said. “I think it bothers them in the end when things aren’t good, but that’s not, then it’s not really my problem anymore — to care what they think about it.
Taylor lends her voice to “The Lorax” playing Audrey (alongside stars including Zac Efron, Betty White, Ed Helms and Danny DeVito), a character whose name holds sentimental value for the Dr. Seuss film.
“Dr. Seuss’ wife was actually named Audrey, so it’s really pretty cool that I get to play this part,” she told Kit. “I have always loved Dr. Seuss. I love the rhyme schemes and the way that words just bounce off a page and the way that afterward you ‘ve learned something, but you didn’t realize it at the time because it was so much fun.”
|
"Then it's not really my problem anymore."
I like what she said at the end about Dr Seuss; it actually reminds me of her own music. You listen to it and enjoy it and you don't even realize that you're learning something along the way.

I think that 1 million in the first week is still possible.
Also, on a somewhat related note, I'd bet money on Adele opening with a million when she releases her next album.

No. Should've Said No at the 2008 ACMs>>>>>>> and will remain unbothered. The angst and attitude she brought there was pure fire!
