Some of you need to be put in your place.
There are “legends” and “pop icons”.
Britney Spears is a pop icon. She has her classic songs... BOMT, Toxic, Oops, Womanizer etc. They sold “whatever total Alexz makes up”. However, when you look at her albums, no one is here for them. I have known Britney for 10 years and the only album I can recount from my head is Blackout. The rest I had to Wikipedia. She is in the same boat as your Rihanna’s, Katy’s, Ke$ha’s etc. You can name all their greatest hits, but you will be hard pressed to actually remember their album names. #NoShade.
The delusion of this post.
What impact did Toxic and Oops I Did It Again have on the Music Industry?. The word "iconic" is so overused and cliche at this point, i don't even know what to say. No one in real life remembers those moments, shiny outfits or dance routines you seem to cherish so dearly, kid.
ok?!?
what impact did those songs have that Whenever Wherever, Waka Waka, Genie, beautiful etc didn't have?
There's no denying that Britney is a pop icon, but I think her problems in 2007 will always overshadow her legacy. She'll most likely be remembered for her breakdown, the fallen pop star, imho...
The girls are hoping and praying that Bey will retire soon asdfg
I never said she's going to retire soon, but saying she'll NEVER retire is foolish. One thing is to say that when you're in your late 20s, other thing is when you start a family and gets older. We can't guess the future.

Her breakdown is not even that remembered anymore tbh. By the time she made her comeback, people slowly began to forget about it.
After Madonna, there was no really big global popstar until Britney, and after Britney became the first female artist to emerge during the rise of boybands, with her huge success came a lot of popstars who followed '...Baby One More Time,' including Christina.
She opened the doors for her, Mandy, Jessica, etc. She was the reason for the Anti-Britney movement, which produced Avril, Nelly Furtado, P!nk, etc. which were all created as Anti-Britneys.
Christina wouldn't have even gotten a pop record deal with RCA if it weren't for Britney. Every label wanted to have their own Britney at the time. Her label manufactured her so she could battle Britney and her popularity. She was originally supposed to be a ****ing soul singer.
I can't understand why you think she's more legendary than Britney. The sound Britney created with Max Martin, and a huge number of producers as well, is still influential and can be heard in the works of Rihanna, Ke$ha, Katy, Pink, and lots of artists. Max Martin is producing Christina’s upcoming single and album, for God's sake.
thats a damn lie.
CHristina got her record deal in 1998 when she release Reflection for Mulan she had already began working on her album. Britney didn't hit ti big till early 1999.
and Britney didn't create the pop sound with Max MArti BSB and Robyn did.

The singles were remixed and the pop versions of the original tracks replaced originals in the second pressing of her debut album. Christina has always followed Britney since the beginning.
Electropop? I thought you said that Justin and Timbaland started that craze.
And what dubstep craze is going on right now? Are you talking about that little breakdown that has been in about three major pop songs in the last year or so?
and aren't those songs all Dr. Luke? he should get credit for starting that "craze"

Britney's first single "Baby one more time" was officially released on september 30, 1998, and she started recording her album in 1997 she was already signed in 1997.... she got her contract first than Xtina .... actually Xtina and Jessica Simpson got their contracts thanks to britney
Christina has always been more respected as an artist since she won the best new artist grammy. the recording academy loves her. Even when she is a flop they still want her to perform and nominate her music, many legends have raved about her and her performances.
I think Rihanna's career will end up being like Diana's Ross's was. Katy will end up being a much lower rent Cyndi Lauper. I think Bey will have a career like Aretha, respected by many and still putting out albums.
P!nk will always be around putting out albums. I'd compare her to Stevie Nicks.
Xtina...idk tbh.
Britney, I just don't see her still making albums when she's like 40. So I think she will fade tbh. No offense. She'll always be remembered in our generation but her songs aren't timeless enough to still be played in 20 years like "Time After Time" is. Idk who to compare her to. Maybe those random pop girls from the 80's? Who sang "Physical"?
Alicia...I don't really care.
JLo is done and Shakira will be like Gloria Estefan. Respected and loved worldwide.
