GMAYL won't be bigger than BTW's opening week because the hype factor isn't as great -- however, I can see the song doing better in the long run (both sales and notability) because of the extensive promotion prepared for after its release.
madonna didn't spend the whole 2011 hyping the song up & talking about MDNA, which would be the only scenario where this thread is reasonable.
You're right, she just decided to team up with 30 different people while trying to capitalize on controversy. It's the worse promo plan of the two and it will show.

You guys are underestimating the power of the Super Bowl. 140 Million+ people watching, the music video debuting on America's biggest show -- the radio deal that is probably set in place, on top of the song featuring Nicki and MIA.
